Somehow it is not looking impressive in these photos, I absolutely love White SUVs but something seems amiss here.

It may not be able to trump the competition in other manner but it is already one up on Alturas with that rear badging.

Rims from the GLS and other interior and exterior bits from the X7 specially the interior.

I don't know how many cars from 3 segments above were they thinking of combining while designing or rather copying the design.

Looks like another feature laden MG but where Hector got some sales due to its size and styling at an attractive price point, it'll be difficult for this one to beat the loyal following of Fortuner or Endeavour also, for that matter. Pricing will decide its fate. Needs to massively undercut the established players else it'll see the same fate as Alturas.
I cannot digest it's looks though. That rear especially, the Gloster badge looks H I D E O U S in my opinion.

re: Scoop! MG Gloster SUV spotted in India - To rival Fortuner & Endeavour

This will be one full size SUV with captain seats in the second row; which the Fortuner and Endeavour don't get. Also the second row headrests look adjustable aft and fore as well apart from the usual up and down (guessing due to the visible black part). For some reason the side profile looks too ungainly with the wheel size further accentuating it. But the GLOSTER badging is a size too large! Pricing will have to undercut the Fortuner if MG wants to sell it.

GLOSTER badging looks too loud IMO, not sure who chose this pokemon like name for such a huge SUV.

Sensible pricing should help it see numbers.

re: Scoop! MG Gloster SUV spotted in India - To rival Fortuner & Endeavour

Apart from the GLOSTER badging, I am liking this car. In the second pic, the hideous badging is not visible? I hope the final production car does not have that loud badging.

Some +ve bits visible over the Fortuner and the Endy-

1) Ventilated seats
2) 3 zone climate control
3) Electronic Parking brake
4) Auto Hold functionality
5) Wireless charging
6) Lane departure warning
7) Self Parking button ? (Right side of the gear lever)

This will force Toyota to add more features to the Fortuner (kinda Hector vs Harrier), and maybe even the Endeavour gets some feature revisions. Win-Win for the Consumer!

well well well... A big boy from MG.

Is it just me or this just does not give a feel of a premium looking vehicle from the outside?

The interiors look premium and classy but externally there sure is something off.

And frankly the large font "G L O S T E R" as the rear looks so ugly IMHO.

Overkill

My views :

- Looks like Benz and BMW had an affair

- Having said that, if rightly priced this will sell in good numbers

- I think this will be the first car where people will prefer removing those big fonts in the rear

- I expect these to sell well in tier 2 cities where people aspire huge road presence albeit at a lower price than the Germans

- Hector's success will play an important part is brand recall for Gloster to succeed

- Finally, the name is not butch / macho enough for the road presence that this offers ( sounds more like a hatchback name )

re: Scoop! MG Gloster SUV spotted in India - To rival Fortuner & Endeavour

Although I understand why people are bashing its looks here, I'm pretty sure this is one of those cars that will look much better in flesh than in photos. However, with the Fortuner facelift around the corner, I don't think Toyota will be much worried. Can't say the same about Ford since its brand following isn't as strong as that of Toyota. The MG's price will be its fate deciding factor IMO.

Ohh, and is it me or are people running out of taillight designs? 12 years later, its still slapped on to new cars with minor tweaks and different height placement

Yep just noticed.

Pricing will be key here. But I am optimistic this will be priced very aggressively.

For instance, in Australia, this (LDV90 top diesel model) costs 47990 $ (25.74L Rupees). Fortuner costs 58490 $ (31.5L Rupees).

Fortuner's(diesel) Ex showroom price for 4WD AT variant in India is at 34.43 L. Going by the difference in Australian prices, assuming they are able to maintain the same difference, Gloster can be priced at around 6L lesser at around 28L Ex showroom. This can translate to 32-33L OTR price. This is about 9-10L rupees cheaper than the Fortuner's top end Diesel (43L).

This kind of pricing can disrupt the segment, IMO.

On other note the exterior design looks cleaner and less macho than the endeavour and fortuner and this might appeal to urban haulers. However can't MG just come with something original and unique, the central screen and console is a blatant rip-off of the X5.
I don't think it would be able to do Hector kind of numbers due to people prefering cheaper crossovers and going with established players in sub 45 lakh price bracket, the covid is another reason too. However it could do decently if priced on par with the alturas.

I am not so sure 07CR. There were discussions that this car may come only as CKD units and in that cases, the taxes alone will take it to Fortuner territory.
Off course if the overall sales numbers dictate may be, higher localizations may bring down the costs.

On a separate note, MG has very consciously tried to keep the image of a British brand. So much so that only Benedict Cumberbatch or other British actors are always chosen for the adds.
So how will the India - China border situation, if at all, will impact this car will be interesting to see.

Yes it's imperative that they manufacture it here, just like the Hector. I believe they will, if they want to create an impact. If it's a CKD, then the prices will rival that of Endy, if not the Fortuner, and that will make it a sales dud.

I don't think the India-China border situation will impact this. Unless there is a war between the two countries, I don't foresee India putting a ban on Chinese owned MNC's Vehicles/ products (that will completely cripple the manufacturing industry).

If you mean to say people will refrain from buying MG, than that simply hasn't happened. Hector continues to rule the segment.
