Tata Motors is likely to launch a model of Indica with direct injection common rail engines (Dicor) this year, reports Business Line.

The company is already producing Indica cars with Dicor, but only for export markets. In the domestic market, Tata Safari and Indigo vehicles are available with Dicor technology.

Common rail technology enables a fine spray of compressed fuel into the combustion chamber, which results in better burn, and hence better driveability and fuel efficiency.

The passenger car volumes have grown 21% in the first 10 months of the current fiscal. In 2005-06, 1.14 million passenger vehicles were produced in India. Diesel cars accounted for about a third of sales. The share of diesel cars in total sales is also increasing, sources said.

One of the two concept cars of the company - Tata Crossover (and the other is Tata Cliffrider) is likely to be productionized within the next couple of years, sources added.

So, what's the news?

The new is correct guys. Indica DICOR is on its way. as it has always been, INDIGO and INDICA with share the same engine.

Infact very soon Sumo DICOR is also coming and SAFARI and SUMO will share the same engine.

The news is confirmed.

Moreover MARUTI is also building its 1 Lakh car. On road it will be some 1.5 Lakh....

The Indica Dicor alongwith a Indica fitted with a 1.3 Multijet engine was in Mumbai..(had posted about this)...the Tata guys said by April the Dicor should be out...The 1.3 was just being tested and both had test plates on...Got to drive the Dicor....Engine was not refined, would overlook that because it was a test mule, but was definitely more drivable than the turbo which itself was an improvement over the NA diesel....the Dicor has a VGT afterall...they were toying with the idea of new interiors, but sadly it wont come with fresh interiors, that saved for the next gen platform.

What will be the expected price of indica dicorplease:

Would be 40-50k more than current indica. My guess as Indigo is priced the same way......
