Re: Share your automotive bucket list here!

Being someone starting with Minimalism, I find it oxymoronic to think to own stuff which I don't require. I'm concentrating on keeping my 2016 Polo as long as possible in it's best condition. So in automotive terms, the first item in my bucket list goes like this.

1. I want my car to feature in team-bhp 'Vintage and Classics in India' section somewhere after 2050.

Re: Share your automotive bucket list here!

An amazing thread.
If I"ll get into own this and buy that kind of bucket list, it will be a long list.
Let me try to focus on some of the things which I want/dream to do. Even my "want to do " list is long but these are the things that came to mind immediately after reading the title of the thread.
  • Overland drive in the Himalayas by an SUV. Poonch to Arunachal Pradesh including Jnk, Ladakh, HP, UK, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan.
  • Take part in one of the rallies like Raid De Himalayas or Desert Strom or Dakar.
  • Provide my services as a navigator for kinds of Suresh Rana or Gaurav Gill.
  • Watch an F1 race live.
  • Europe Overland tour.
  • Marshaling at one of the major motorsports events in the Himalayas.
  • Experiance Trans Siberrian rail journey.
  • Voyaging in "The Polar Star" a heavy ice breaker ship to Antarctica.
  • Drive a Ferrari & Lamborghini on a race track.

Re: Share your automotive bucket list here!

Here's mine:
1. Drive a powerful 18 wheeler on Indian roads
2. Buy a Landcruiser 79 (with the single turbo V8 1VD-FTV.) Modify it for Overlanding with a 130-liter fuel tank, 2 spare wheels, bedding, extending roof etc
3. Drive a Mitsubishi Evo on a dirt track
4. Drive a Lambo Countach

Using the LC, travel to:
1. Ladakh, rest of Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand
2. NE India
3. Drive to Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka.
4. Drive to Pakistan and Afghanistan- Karakoram Highway and hope they have other roads into the Hindu Kush and Pamir Knot. (I'm less than a quarter of a century old and I hope I can do this once in my life)
5. Overlanding in South Africa with a trip to Durban - Jo'burg - Pretoria - Bloemfontein- Cape Town
6. Overlanding from Adelaide to Darwin and camping at different spots
7. Do the Paris-Dakar route and also participate in the Dakar rally.

My "other" travel bucket list is much longer.

1. Buy a BMW M5 some day. Before that equip my driving to be able to push the M5 to its fullest capability.
2. Gift a Cooper to wife
3. Rent a Challenger R/T on my next trip to the US. This time, I had one helluva experience with the Charger

A few pictures of the charger

4. Buy a capable SUV (MuX or Furtuner) and recreate the travelogues of BHPian DrBones
5. Learn and do basic service and maintenance on my cars and bikes.
6. Buy one adventure tourer (V Storm 650) and if god is kind, African Twin and travel as much as possible.

Re: Share your automotive bucket list here!

1. Learn everything about automobile repair and maintenance. I hate it when I stand like a goat ready to be slaughtered by the service center.

2. Own a recreational vehicle (though I don't know where I will use it in India, considering no avenue to dispose waste)

3. Drive a railway locomotive

4. Restore a vintage car with modern mechanicals and actually use it

Many other wishes have already been covered so won't repeat.

Re: Share your automotive bucket list here!

This is fun. Here is my list.

- over land trip to as many countries as possible (should cover all continents) in a rugged SUV (some trips on bike too)
- Collect parts and build a RZ3500/500 or RD350LC from scratch on my own
- Drive as many super cars as possible and own a practical one like Porsche 911
- Get a career in automotive journalism (working towards it now and hopefully can start after 40)
- My own garage
- keep my two stroke bikes forever

I am confident I'll tick most of the items but need to work hard and am up for it

Cheers

Re: Share your automotive bucket list here!

My bucket list is about a mile long. So I will just concentrate on a few:

I would like to own a Triumph TR5 or TR6. I always fancied these, the last of the hairy chested British sports car.

Similarly I have always fancied the Mercedes Pagoda. One of the prettiest, open top sports car.

Once I retire I will have to hand in the company car. I would like to get two cars then: A small very simple one, just to get around locally. The other day I saw an absolutely gorgeous original Fiat Panda, first Series, Dark blue, immaculate! Love these tiny cars.

For my serious motoring I am torn between some Range Rover Sport or an Aston Martin. Either the DB9 or DB11 will do nicely.

I would love to own something a bit more exotic too, as we live here in the rural parts of the Netherlands I fancy either a Lamborghini Tractor or an early Unimog.

There are a number of passes around Europe, I have yet to drive: Chief amongst would be the Stelios Pass. Weapon of choice would be the latest Renault Alpine!

For a true exotic, I would really like the opportunity to drive the original moon buggy. First car ever with joy-stick control. A true must do!

I have to get myself in a proper Nascar and do a few ovals at blistering speed too!

Lastly, once I retire I would like to get my truck drivers license and all relevant certificates. (These days all sorts of safety requirements/courses to complete).

Truck drivers are in very high demand and I would like to do the occasional bit of long distance truck driving across Europe.

Jeroen

My bucket list is quite short at the moment to have a man cave (At long last: My own man cave...My Garage!) like yours and the ability to work on my cars like you do .

Apart from that, I stuck a couple of items off my list this year:
- Bought a classic looking motorcycle (Interceptor)
- Bought a largish family van (HiAce)

I continue to tour across the country and quite satisfied with the vehicles in my garage now, onward to the man cave!

Re: Share your automotive bucket list here!

Have to say one of the most interesting threads around and gets one's dreams and fantasies slotting to the top gear.

Personal bucket list -
  • Own a Nano, afterall it is our version of a Beetle (did not buy one earlier as had another iconic hatch in the stable - the M800)
  • Buy the legendary Pajero, one of the true SUV's of its class and drive it to the himalayas (Sikkim, Ladakh and Arunachal)
  • Own a Harley Davidson CVO Road Glide and do a road trip to London, love cruisers by a long distance
  • Have a Telsa Model S in the garage to be future ready and for the family

For all those who would like to get introduced to these hot wheels, just Google them . Thats all folks for now.

Re: Share your automotive bucket list here!

Own a garage with every single iteration of Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Have so much material on its development I may aswell turn that garage into a museum and be the tour guide.

Oh and own either the 2020 Fireblade or the 2005 one. Budget depending.

Re: Share your automotive bucket list here!

I will divide my list into:

1) What I would like to own
2) What I would like to do

What I would like to own:
1) Build a Project Car, maybe a used Brio. Soup up the engine, wide tyres, decals the works.
2) Vintage Motorcycle. Harley, Norton, Triumph, Yamaha RX100
3) A sturdy, spacious road trip car like an Innova or with budget constraints maybe Ertiga, Lodgy will do.
4) Porsche 911R
5) BMW M1

What I would like to do:
1) Drive a Porsche 911 on Romania's Transfagarasan Highway. I can't get it out my head after the Top Gear episode.
Share your automotive bucket list here!-romania.jpg
2) Rent a Fiat Abarth 500 with open top and drive up to the Stelvio Pass in Italy
Share your automotive bucket list here!-stelvio.jpg
3) Drive a classic Mustang (open top) on the Pacific Coast Highway.
Share your automotive bucket list here!-pch.jpeg
4) I would have liked to ride an Africa Twin on Bolivia's Yungas Road (Death Highway). Sadly only BMX bikes are now allowed. So cycling on this road it will be.
Share your automotive bucket list here!-bolivia.jpg

That about sums it up.
