Hello Guys

I’m sure almost everyone would’ve owned a car / bike previously before upgrading / updating to newer models in the market to remain up-to-date with features, trend, safety and for so many other reasons. While doing so, we’d have painfully traded our beloved possessions to own something new & fresh. I’m sure that would’ve obviously got us into that emotion that would ask us to give a chance to buy it back - which vehicle has gotten you the most of it?

I will start with mine - my first car Maruti Suzuki Baleno 2006 that I’d bought that I’d happily added to my garage in 2013. Car server me for over 3 years before it was sold to a dear friend who was bowled over by the looks of my Baleno and the way it sounded & drove

It was that day when I realized I had to upgrade for obvious reasons and I zeroed in on my current dear one Brezza.

So if ever I get a chance to buy back this car, I’d buy it back eyes closed only because of the following reasons;

• The way it drove was a class apart

• It was a car that turned heads wherever I took it and gave me an identity of my own with my friends and known associates

• Performance was mind blowing on highways - I mean the way it handled was as if it was born to take whatever you throw at it regardless of the speeds you were making in it. It was rock solid

• Stance of the car transforms with the addition of sweet alloys and maintains that low slung stance - ready to poach types

• Last but not the least - my FIRST car and the connection I had with it cannot be explained. Words don’t justify the experience I’ve had with it.

What a co-incidence, if there is one car that I want to buy back, it would be my 2005 Baleno LXi, eyes closed. It was my first new car and sold it off when I went to USA on a long term assignment. Still regret that decision. I tried to find that car again, but have not been successful. The thread on my Baleno -

If there is one car that I truly enjoyed most for its cleverness and its real functionality it was my lovely 8 year old Yeti which went to its new home on Wednesday this week 27 Nov 2019.

The only reason for selling it was the need to go AT because of this horrible traffic.

This is the one car I have had in my life which I will buy back happily.

Coincidence strikes again. I bought a used 2006 Baleno LXi in 2007, 10000KMs on the odo and plastic covers still on rear seats. We used it till 2018. Total ownership of 11 years. It was great on the highways as others have suggested above and used to shrink around me unbelievably in tight streets. That chassis + steering + 1.6L petrol engine and light weight screamed sportiness. 1st gen City looked overrated to me as it had a soft suspension setup and steering feedback was not as good as the Baleno's.
It was at 120000KMs when we sold it. The best bit of it was robustness. The Toyota badge won't have looked out of place on it. I own a Fiesta now which is by far the best handling car this side of the 3 series but the Baleno will always have a special place in my heart.

Though all the mods were done by first owner, the car was reliable as hell and I absolutely loved the bassy exhaust!

I would surely buy back my Tata Vista. The reason I had to give it up was lack of parking space. If I ever manage to get a place with proper 3 car parking space - I'd pull her back to me from wherever she is .

Dad's W111. I hate the fact that it didn't stay on as a family heirloom. Would be such a beauty today! Would cruise around Bombay every weekend / late night in it. He got rid of it because of lack of time (he was too busy with work) and it was a pain to maintain it in the 70s (no spare parts).

If required, I would do a perfect ground up restoration today and make this baby brand new .


From modern cars, I wouldn't buy it back, but I do miss my Vtec more than any other ex-car of mine:

My Swift from late 2000s. Was one of the first in Mumbai with the 1.3. That was truly a Swift. Not what we get these days!

I loved both my 800 and my Civic. If I had a time machine I would have gone back in time and stopped myself from selling each of them. The 800 was sold due to parking issues and rising fuel costs since I had 2 petrol cars at the time. The Civic was sold as it was running into heavy maintenance costs. Both cars put a smile on my face and made me very happy. I miss these two as one misses his or her friend :-(. Given the chance I would like to have both of them back in my life but the Civic the most even if it dried up my wallet.

Want to buy back our 94 Yamaha RX 100. Sold off in 2003. In 97, my elder brother took it to Belgaum for his engineering and brought it back in 2011. By then it had started to fall apart due to the abuse and no care. We went for complete overhaul but the mechanic was not competent enough to bring back it's original glory. Finally dad sold it off when I went out for graduation. I am sure it must have been scrapped by now, but I want it back in the condition I sold

I got it from my sister in 2005, was the first car I owned and learnt driving on.

Drove it from Pune to Mumbai in 2011 to scrap it, as per Late Mr Behram Dhabar's advice.

Miss that exhaust, lovely view of Bonnet and the column shifter. Can still feel shifting those gears.
