No mention of any price increase, have they launched at current price? If so it can be viewed as a slight price correction by Mahindra.

I believe XUV 300 base BS-IV Petrol price was 8.1. Now with BS-6 it is 8.3. So, an increase of INR 20k for the BS6 upgradation.

Re: BS6 compliant Mahindra XUV300 Petrol launched

For all the hue & cry raised by the OEMs earlier, these BS6 price increases (for petrols) have indeed been fair & reasonable. IMHO, it's the habit of manufacturers to cry over any new regulation, but it's the duty of the government to enforce (as they have rightly done) .

Even for diesels, the BS6 price hikes are going to be far more reasonable than the "100,000" premium loosely thrown around in interviews. Heck, the Seltos is so well-priced and its diesel is already BS6. Will be expensive only for the big diesels used in luxury cars though as they need the AdBlue fluid.

Most manufacturers did it to push prospective customers over the edge by the fear of the price increase in a very dull market.
And its the same reason why they cannot overcharge after complying with BS6, the market may not be too kind to them.
All in all, good for us

Just for good measure Toyota said Rs 5-6L increase for a Innova BS6 Diesel. Wonder why these companies dont realise that Public sab jaanti hi. In the Creta-Seltos segment the price ceiling is sort of set by Seltos and now there is no need for anyone to posture on quantum of price increase.

Not unless they're planning to buy parts from Lexus!

I read in the VW Dieselgate book that it would have cost VW merely $400 or so to make their diesels meet California's strict emission laws. That's just Rs 28,000 at the factory level (will be higher at retail).

Team,

Yet another exclusive for Team-BHP:- Pricing of the BS6 compliant Mahindra XUV300 diesel, which is scheduled to be launched very shortly.

Ex-showroom:

W4 = 8,69,130/- (BS4 = 8,69,000/-)

W6 = 9,50,130/- (BS4 = 9,50,000/-)

W8 = 10,95,130/- (BS4 = 10,95,000/-)

W8 (O) = 12,14,129/- (BS4 = 12,14,000/-)

W6 AMT = 9,99,901/- (BS4 = 9,99,000/-)

W8 (O) AMT = 12,69,001/- (BS4 = 12,69,000/-)

Fantastic by Mahindra. They have retained the earlier pricing with BS6 compatibility. Take that, Maruti-Suzuki!

That smells like a price cut in the guise of new BS6 prices. The XUV300 definitely needed that as it was priced beyond its competitors and close to the Creta/Seltos twins. There might be further discounts offered in a few months' time, just like the previous BS4 variants carried.

Edit: Ford didn't hike the Ecosport prices when the BS6 variant was launched. Nexon had a smaller hike while the new Venue 1.5L is also significantly cheaper than the outgoing BS4 XUV300. Mahindra didn't have any room to hike prices there.

Excellent pricing by Mahindra. I feel there is a scope of one more variant between W6 & W8 which could be priced at 9.99L. Ecosport Titanium is priced at 9.99 & is an excellent value for money product.

Re: BS6 compliant Mahindra XUV300 Petrol launched

The writing was already there on the wall.

The XUV300 diesel variants were already priced dangerously close to basic models of Creta/Seltos etc.

Mahindra simply did not have any room for increasing prices.

I just hope they have added cruise control in W6 AMT - that would have made it the perfect package for both city and highway driving.

There was never a good reason to raise the 300’s prices. It was already priced on the higher side to begin with. The engines were designed to comply with BS6 from the very beginning. And they haven’t added any extra hardware like for urea injection. In simplest terms, it isn’t much more than a thorough remap for BS6 compliance.

Exactly - they should thank BS6 for giving them a chance to rationalize prices! Still not quite VFM yet although with good discounts, it should get there.

Extra Hardware like Lean NOx trap & DPF would have been added.
Only a re-map may not be sufficient.
