Maruti Suzuki is going to undertake a massive safety recall of almost 60,000 units of the mild-hybrid versions of the Ertiga, Ciaz and XL6.

It is believed that Maruti is recalling these cars due to a safety risk related to the ISG system.

Dealers have been asked to put on hold all current stocks and factory dispatches have also been halted. Owners of the affected cars are expected to be given loaner cars while their cars are being fixed.

Maruti Suzuki is expected to make an official announcement regarding this recall tomorrow.

Any details about what the safety risk actually is? I'm wondering how no such issue has been reported on the forum yet, but it has already prompted a huge recall from Maruti.

Just delivered? I find that strange as we confirmed with a Maruti dealer and they'd been instructed to put all stocks on hold.

I'd be worried if there wasn't a safety recall . Recalls are good because it shows a manufacturer who is willing to fix (inevitable) defects. Would suggest checking on the VIN tool when Maruti announces it today.

Fire hazard of lithium-ion battery is the reason.

Quote:
It is mainly due to the new lithium-ion battery fitted in the new smart hybrid technology cars over the last one year. There were a few cases of fire in the recent past

Is the S Cross included in the list too? Since it too has a mild hybrid system.

Ooh. Got my new Ciaz delivered on 08th October 2019, and now a recall within 2 months. A Lithium ion battery under the seat was always a worry. Hope Maruti provides a one time permanent fix to the issue. Eagerly awaiting the company notification to see if my vehicle is affected.

Keeping fingers crossed.

Maruti Ciaz, Ertiga & XL6 Petrol Smart Hybrid variants recalled

Maruti has recalled the petrol mild-hybrid variants of the Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6 to rectify potential safety defects.

A total of 63,493 cars manufactured between January 1, 2019 and November 21, 2019 have been affected by this recall.

According to Maruti Suzuki, the affected units of the Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6 could have a defective Motor Generator Unit. The cars will be inspected for the defect and the faulty part will be replaced free of cost.

Maruti Suzuki dealers will start notifying owners of affected cars from December 6, 2019 onwards. Customers can also check if their car is among those affected by entering the 14-digit chassis number on this website.

Checked the status for my Ertiga ZXi AT. As per the VIN check, my car isn't in the list of recall even though it was manufactured in December 2018

This seems to be for a different issue related to fuel hose and clamp, not the motor generator unit. Mostly there will be another page enabled for the new recall.

My Ertiga is eligible for recall. I called up mu SA and he said they havent received the circular from Maruti yet, once they receive it they will call me. He was not sure how critical it is so I am not sure whether I should be taking the car for a long drive scheduled in the last week of December.

Maruti-Suzuki has corrected the website error. It shows MGU now. Can you please recheck and update?
