re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2019. EDIT: It's the Kia Seltos!

I voted Hyundai Kona, because it is the first practical electric car in India at a "somewhat reasonable" price. Yes, it is around 25 lakhs, and that isn't cheap by any means, but it is the precursor to more mainstream electric cars coming into the market. If it wasn't for the Kona, people would either think of electric cars are cheap and impractical like the Reva/e20 or expensive like the Tesla. No doubt alternative fuels are the future, but infrastructure is the key to them succeeding.

Voted for Triber for the innovation in space design and affordability for masses. Agreed that seltos is the nicest car for the price it sells for, and Triber can be sales flop but cars like triber try to change our way of looking at car design and establishing a segment of its own.

It has to be Kia Seltos. In a gloomy scenario, where automotive industry was crumbling, Kia debuted Seltos in a super style. A great looking modern product with correct price tag was required to boost customer's confidence.

MG Hector would have been my other option if it was not Seltos.

Voted for the Kia SELTOS! It has more votes than all others combined!

Having done that, I was really hoping that the Tata Harrier takes my vote. After the Harrier was launched I was certain that nothing else will bag the COTY award from TBHP. Trust Tata to botch it up.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2019. EDIT: It's the Kia Seltos!

Voted for Triber.

Renault nailed it with Triber, no other car in that budget range offers the much needed modularity that it offers. And the most commendable thing is the design, they managed to come up with a proportionate design despite it being a sub 4 meter car. Hope Renault backs it up with good a.s.s to sustain the numbers.

My choices in order:

1. Triber
2. Harrier (Tata should refine it further and add features to the brim to grow sales. Tata, learn from other OEMs, give the buyers what they want, not what they need)
3. Seltos (Seltos makes a good sense as a whole package but still it can't beat Harrier in my books)

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2019. EDIT: It's the Kia Seltos!

Voted for Hyundai Kona.

None of the other cars have the "Futuristic" appeal, they are all either past or present market demands.

Hyundai took a brave step to electrification with it. It will evolve in future based on the requirements and responses from market. It set a baseline for the EVs and in process this car already threatened the make shift EVs.

By the way, this is my first post in Team-BHP. Happy to post my first comment in this thread.

Voted for the Audi A6. I'm in love with Audis engineering and their design. Hope to drive home the beauty someday.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2019. EDIT: It's the Kia Seltos!

Knowing fully well that Seltos will take the pie, voted for Tata Harrier. Although it may not be upto the mark with Seltos on QA dept/overall refinement, feel this is a superior one to Seltos in terms of specs/engine/sheer road presence and smashing design.

Felt this one could be a comeback car for Tata onto the larger SUV realm, riding on the success of its smaller sibling Nexon plus on its own merit - has the capability to better the dud sales (not dud car) of Hexa, provided Tata fix the steering/overall quality issues/niggles; no complaints with their A-S-S though, as I've experienced with my Nano. With the 3-row 7-seater Gravitas, feel it'd be a VFM alternative for my dream car - the Endeavour !

Would like to narrate an incident here. Was moving towards Mysore University on the Hunsur Road today on my two-wheeler, and seeing the traffic sparse [almost nill, due to early noon on a weekday/working day, occupied the right lane and moving at ~30 per hour. Then an orange Harrier, with its DRLs lit, joined the road from the left, and was behind me for a good 600 mtrs. For once, instead of getting intimidated by its size, I kept my lane admiring the beast, while it followed me instead of moving to the left, and then it struck me that I might be blocking his lane, and I moved the left, and it moved past at the same speed. Not once did he honk, or try to come close at me, nor he was busy on phone [could make out from my rear view mirror because the only 2 sec i looked at the driver, he looked focused on the road]. Not sure if he was on hands-free, but looks like both of us were in no hurry. This kind of feeling I had felt only for the Safari while I was still riding bicycle, in my early twenties. A reason among few that I voted with my head and heart for Harrier.

Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2019

An award for almost every vehicle lined up for 2019.

Wonder how they missed the Bounce scooters?
Probably the last mile connectivity award of the year?

Maybe next time?

M&M misses out. Maybe a tweet of the year to Anand Mahindra would have done some justice.

Kudos to Kia and the Seltos. Leading and winning all the way.
