re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2019. EDIT: It's the Kia Seltos!

Voted for the Seltos, being a car which stands on its own abilities and merit rather than biases and perceptions about the OEM. It has hopefully brought out the relevance of good drivetrain options being available to a car buyer instead of living with 'hand me down' drivetrains

It has to be Kia Seltos. An excellent spread of variants, gearboxes, engine options in a SUV is a recipe made for success.
Also covers a wide range of pricing from 10-20L.

Some good product launches this year, in red-hot segments, but one has to appreciate what Hyundai did with offering a full-blown electric car that isn't a compromise of some sort.

Kudos to others for great products, but it takes guts to kick-off the next gen of mobility, and do it well.

My vote goes to the Kona.

Heart says Harrier but mind says Seltos, so finally voted for Seltos because of the brilliant styling, variants and all together a finest vehicle and very well thought product from the manufacturer, excellent strategy.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2019. EDIT: It's the Kia Seltos!

Voted for the KIA SELTOS! Though I'm not a big fan of its overdone design, it shook the market. First car from a new brand for our country to garner that many sales, it's something great. Indian customers overlooking the unsure thing about it's long term reliability and still buying the car, says it all. This is like the "XUV5OO" moment for KIA in India. We actually bought the HYUNDAI VENUE this year. Although it's a great all-rounder, it's not anything groundbreaking.
PS: This is my FIRST ever post on TEAM-BHP.

Haven't driven or even sat in any of the poll choices. I voted for the Kia Seltos only on the basis of the Initial Ownership and Comprehensive Reviews on Team BHP. Also performing so well in a sluggish market deserves a special mention. Hopefully Kia launches more products soon in other segments as well.

While the Seltos is the obvious choice and a solid one, I voted for the Kona.

Reason - it's a path breaking car, like no other launch this year. In an otherwise risk averse auto industry, Hyundai took a leap of faith in launching the Kona. India's first mainstream EV.

The response to it will probably define the Indian EV mkt in the years to come. And it's become the benchmark that future EV launches will be measured against.

Voted for harrier because of strong road presence, build quality, spacious cabin, Fiat 2.0L diesel engine, healthy ground clearance, 6 airbags, ESP, hill hold, it's a total VFM proposition for me.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2019. EDIT: It's the Kia Seltos!

Voted for the Triber.

I believe it is the first car after the Omni / Versa / Eeco to appeal to the 7-seater buyer on a budget. Full marks to Renault to get the upmarket styling into the entry level segment. A task which was already difficult for an MPV. Add to it the mature handling and ride quality which is gathering praises.

Other notable mention goes to the Seltos, Venue and Hector. They show that covering a wide price bracket with multiple power-train options and SUVs of all shapes and sizes, is what the market is leaning towards.

EDIT: Why is Renault Triber italicized in the voting list??

Voted for the Seltos!
It is the only car which got almost everything perfect right from the engines, transmissions and features to the looks.
Would have voted for the Triber if it had at least a 1.2L engine, a 1L engine is not at all suitable for a 7 seater.

Voted for Harrier.
It’s looks, platform, it’s presence on the road and space. It’s great value for money too.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2019. EDIT: It's the Kia Seltos!

That's a decent list out there for this year considering the weak market conditions. Although the decision is pretty much easier, it will be KIA SELTOS

I might just echo everyone's opinions as how Kia taught a thing or two for every other manufacturer especially how to take a new product to the customer with all guns blazing. The wide variants with automatic variants itself gives Kia a massive advantage.

I would've voted Harrier for it's elegant design and stance although it doesn't have the bling had it been absolute niggle free. More than anyone else Tata should learn from Kia. I'm quite disappointed looking at the Harrier sales for being a dud with that design.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2019. EDIT: It's the Kia Seltos!

It is a true blue SUV with off-road capabilities.
Others are basically raised hatch backs or estates with all show and no go of a SUV.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2019. EDIT: It's the Kia Seltos!

Voted for the Kia Seltos. A big reason for this being the wide array of variants that appeal to a lot of people for their needs.

I believe Tata made it easy for Kia to reach this place by NOT offering an automatic. Personally, I love the Harrier and would have voted for it but did not because it fails to provide an automatic which a lot of people would want at that price range.

Voted for the Triber.

Yes Seltos is munching ~15K per month but is not for everyone. Triber is a terrific package as a 5 seater and occasional 7 seater too. For Safety, Features, Space, Design, almost everything associated with it has a terrific value proposition. A perfect upgrade for my KWID 0.8

Cheers!
