The Maruti Futuro-E could be an EV based on the Maruti S-Presso.

You saw it first on IndianAutosBlog.com!

The Maruti Future-S concept from Auto Expo 2018 gave us the Maruti S-Presso this year. Now, a trademark filing unearthed by IAB has revealed that a new model named 'Maruti Futuro-E' is in the works, and it could be an EV based on the Maruti S-Presso.

The trademark filing comes at a time very close to Auto Expo 2020. The Maruti Futuro-E could very well be a concept EV scheduled for a world premiere at the upcoming biennial motor show in Delhi, India.

Maruti Suzuki Futuro-e SUV-coupe previewed!

Quote:
With the production-spec Futuro-e, Maruti Suzuki is aiming squarely for the space witnessing the fiercest competition – the midsize SUV segment – which has, for long, been dominated by the Hyundai Creta (and now by the Kia Seltos), and is also luring carmakers from the world over.
CV Raman, Senior Executive Director (Engineering):

Quote:
The design of Concept FUTURO-e is a fascinating fusion of a coupé with a SUV. It is a significant departure from the mainstream SUV architecture and is expected to raise the design bar of Utility Vehicles in India

Maruti Suzuki says its Concept FUTURO-e will raise the design bar of utility vehicles in India.

The Concept FUTURO-e's design language could be what defines Maruti Suzuki's upcoming cars.

Maruti Suzuki Futuro-e - Coupe Electric SUV design revealed

Source: https://www.financialexpress.com/aut...-expo/1829129/

"The Maruti Suzuki Futuro-e showcases the design of an SUV Coupe which is a departure from what we have so far seen from the Indo-Japanese carmaker."

This means the Futuro-E won't be a renamed Wagon-R / XL5. Does that mean there are 2 different electric cars coming from Maruti?

A coupe-like design! Is it so popular among Indians? If so, why such a coupe-like car didn't come earlier?

They have to go with a traditional design, IMO. The electric car itself will be a slow-starter. A non-conventional design makes very difficult for them to sell it.

Celerio was their Guinea pig for all their experiments like AMT and small Diesel. But the pig is in coma stage!

The article says "multiple powertrains". So, it may have Petrol, Hybrid, Diesel and Electric options.

re: Maruti Suzuki Futuro-e Coupe SUV concept teased

Not sure if it's me or others as well....

Seems like a Baleno Hatchback with raised & flattened hood and stretched body! Of course, need to be seen in real physical appearance. The silhouette resembles of Baleno though.

"Raising the bar for utility vehicles" : Hopefully they really mean it this time unlike Brezza!!!

Is Suzuki's Futuro-e inspired by Volkswagen's NIVUS?

Most Maruti Suzuki concept cars don't even preview their upcoming production model!

The most recent example being SPresso!

Re: Maruti Suzuki Futuro-e Coupe SUV concept teased

Not that there's much to gather from these teasers, but indicatively, I'm liking the Futuro E more than the Nivus. I hope this Suzuki concept turns out to be more of a case similar to Baleno's concept into production transition than Espresso.

C-HR inspiration on the c-pillar? Looks great, no doubt, but isn't very practical. Though will Maruti-Suzuki REALLY translate that into production is anybody's guess.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Futuro-e Coupe SUV concept teased

Looks swell. But...the production version would be watered down. They should only show production version. That way you won't feel crestfallen when you see it in real. Tata seems to make closest to what hey show as concept.

Reminds me of sport variant of Baleno. Baleno already is the sportiest looking hatch.
