Re: Innova Crysta BS6 Diesel to come only with 2.4L engine

Factory dispatch of BS6 vehicles is going to begin from mid of February. Deliveries will begin early march is what I am told by the dealer.

Re: Innova Crysta BS6 Diesel to come only with 2.4L engine

I never expected to see that people would miss the 2.8L engine so much. We picked touring sport very recently in the automatic trim. Dad enjoys driving it. So all in all a good buy.

Sad to see them skip Android Auto and Apple car play. I seriously don't understand there reluctance to launch that in India when they already have it in their global portfolio. The existing system is a real pain to use and navigation is so difficult to set. Maybe the next year update will feature this

Here is the BS6 price list for Bengaluru. 2.8 is mentioned in the list, not sure if this is a mistake or will actually be available to buy.

The Innova top end has moved from Rs 27L in 2016 to Rs 31L in 2020 OTR Bangalore. Marching onwards to maybe Rs 40L with the next iteration. Helps retain value though. This is what monopoly does. In this case segmental monopoly.

May be a typing error. Even the specs on engine specification on website shows 2.4l for automatic touring sport.

This high pricing is without basic features like Android Auto, Apple Car Play, Auto Tailgate, etc which one normally gets in a 20L car in India.

I had a conversation with one of the Toyota advisors and as per him, We can expect an upgraded version during the Diwali time frame with some of these features included along with a small increase in price.

Before Diwali there will be one more 'small' increase in price.

There may be one even before. Remember, Toyota introduced the current prices as celebratory introductory prices for BS6!

Re: Innova Crysta BS6 Diesel to come only with 2.4L engine

So I happen to browse through some DPF stuff in Australia and guess what I found : Class action filed over Toyota DPF issues in 2.8 L diesel.

This could be one of the reasons why 2.8 L is not being introduced here in BS6 guise now. Maybe Toyota would take time to calibrate the 2.8L.

Diesel with DPF is a huge risk. I'll prefer a petrol or hybrid over a diesel engine with DPF anyday. A nice explanation here -

Another article which mentions about how widespread the DPF issues are in Australia. - https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-11-...pread/11655040

The DPF seems to be a real limiting factor on Diesel engines. It seems to be a patchy afterthought fix for an inherent design problem ( that Diesels cannot be made Euro 6 compliant ). In 2 to 3 years, the problems that the Australian customers are facing could be ours. Is it the start of the end for Diesel engines ?

Just when I was feeling happy to have bought a 2.8 AT 14 months back and enjoying every KM for the 38K odd that I've driven, the DPF topics has now eroded those happy feelings. 😢

I don't think, the India spec BS4 2.8 D-4D has DPF on it. But, post BS6 every Diesel engine should logically have a DPF fitted.

Thanks, this is a eye opener. Looks like DPF regeneration is a problem not only in Australia. There are many threads in Internet like the below ones discussing about its removal.

With no strict enforcement of vehicle emission levels in India, I am afraid people will do the same here.

Re: Innova Crysta BS6 Diesel to come only with 2.4L engine

Couple of days back, dealer has called and confirmed that my new BS6 Innova crysta GX has arrived.

In the last photo you can see the blue coloured DPF. You also get a DPF button on the right of steering wheel. I don’t know the technical stuff here. But reading how to use the DPF from user manual, I’m bit scared. Have not taken delivery yet. But will get it this week after RTO registration. Fingers crossed.

This forum really spooky for me now

Re: Innova Crysta BS6 Diesel to come only with 2.4L engine

With only 2.4 diesel in lineup, I would have loved to see 6 speed iMT instead of 5 speed MT in Innova. That would have really made riding this beast a lot smoother. Hope, they provide it in facelift, is it too much to ask from Toyota?
