The next Corolla Altis, when it comes, will probably be a hybrid. However, given the success of cars like the Seltos, and the tepid response the Civic got, Toyota might not consider bringing in a sedan soon. They would focus on a Creta like CUV (Compact Utility Vehicle) instead.

I was told that since it is a Petrol, they won't be phased out like the Diesels.

CSUVs or CUVs will continue to expand. C2 and D1 segment sedans are all be dead.

Disclaimer: My family got a Corolla and a Camry in 2019. We still prefer sedans.

Sad. It was a good car but the rear seat would not fit 3 in comfort and the engine was nothing to get excited about.

Last month was 17.8k (14k+3.8k). This month total is around 11k including exports. What about the remaining deficit? Could be maintenance or year end ramp down or just a cooked up reason?

You're right! Didn't know they exported in the previous month as well.

Media reported that Carnival is slated for an early 2020 launch - we can only speculate on the actual launch date and if Carnival will share / already sharing the production line, but then Kia's Anantpur plant has a capacity of 300,000 units per year or 25,000 units per month, and maybe capacity is not fully scaled up yet.

I have been recently hearing that waiting list is being cleared and cars are available on demand. May be demand is no longer exceeding production.

Amid the talk of slowdown in automotive market, Maruti Suzuki India's net profit rises in third quarter

Read more at:

Does this rise in profit indicates that the bottom is over and the sector is on the path of recovery or is it just discounts during the festive season and year end doing the trick?
