Hey Milind impressive cars you family has owned there.. The Caprice Classic reminds me of my childhood days in Dubai where the Caprice was very popular

Well heres what my family has owned over the years from the beginning

I'll start by Dubai since thats where i lived almost half my life. My dads first car in Dubai was a white Subaru in 1980. Very good car and I really loved it. It was then replaced by a Mazda 929 again white in 1982 .Two years later in 1984 we bought a Toyota Cressida metallic brown since Dad wanted an AT. This car became permanent in our house and apart from that we always had others cars which dad got home to use from office.. some of the finest cars actually since my dads boss knew how much i loved cars. These cars ranged from the Mercedes 190 E , the Nissan Patrol, the Pajero, the Lexus LS400 the 7 series Beemers but the car my dad loved driving was the 500 SEL . By far the best Mercedes I have ever experienced.

Back in India my first car was.. yes a Premier Padmini Ambi grey in colour. We later fitted an Aiwa system and an aircon. This car saw out my school days. Once I turned 18 my dad bought me a Maruti 800 for my personal use a beige one.

Around that time my Fiat underwent a heart transplant and had a Mazda 1.6 diesel engine fitted along with a Contessa gearbox. And boy did it kick #$& or what.. . Also painted it metallic black and gave it wider tyres and 13 inch rims.

Come mid 97 and Justy (my dog) joined the family. And over time the Fiat became too cramped to go out of station with family and luggage. So in 1998 we sold the Fiat and bought a Tata Sierra which we still have in the family. We all love it. Yes it has the niggling problems like any Tata but gives you that brute feeling and a road presence just like the bigger SUVs. Ride comfort and space is to die for. Driving position is awesome as well.

Sold the 800 in 2001 to buy my first very own car a Zen which I still drive today. Shod it with alloys , tubeless tyres and a good Pioneer system and I'm enjoying every bit of it. Will post pictures of my current and previously owned cars soon.

Well Dipen,

Ya I miss those days. Those days were another era and another lifestyle. Dad retired long ago so no foreign $$ to purchase the cars. Now living on my Rs. Salary. Maybe a fraction of what my dad made P.A.

Salt on my wounds V12. Yes it would have been priceless now, but sadly...it does not exist. Was ripped apart and parts sold individually. She did have white-walled tyres.

Hi X-Machine....

1990 Contessa Classic 1.8gl was our first car in the family...it was second hand...i dint know to drive when she joined our family...i learnt 2 drive from her..she was very responsive being a petrol machine...have done 5 360spins with her at times...she was with us for 3years and it was decided we go for a smaller car and M800 came in...M800 is a toy for anybody who drives a Contee..i thought of picking a higher model in Contee after 1990 parted...bought the 1996 Contessa Classic the same day she parted from us...guess in maximum of 6hrs of time...second hand again...now am happy with our 2.0 Contee Diesel..giving aroung 14 in city...no spins yet...havent and wont try it tho..

regards,
