Hi Guys, my mind is very confused nowadays.The reason behind it is my son who is very much bent on owning a march 2004, 55000kms run , mumbai registered, reasonably good condition Toyota Camery.
This car will be ours for just Rs.3 Lacs.My son tells me that a car worth 20 Lac can be ours for this small amount.
Now this is not just buy this car, but it will be brought after selling his March 2008 Maruti Swift VDI, which he had purchased brand new from vitesse .It has clocked 40000kms till now and there is extended warranty still valid till july 2012.
He got alloy wheels fitted later, Music system with Amp and USP .This car was serviced only at vitesse.
It gives about 16 kms in city without careful driving.
On highway without AC it gives about 24kms/ltr of HSD.
No dents,no peeling paint,no rattles,no engine power loss,battery replaced with Bosch just 3 months back,Comprehencive Insurance, same original clutch plate works superb, Team Bhp Stickers etc etc etc.

Now compare with petrol F.C. of Camery of 6 kms/ltr in city,11 kms/ltr on highway, expencive service, parts, Heavy Insurance premium.
Someone suggested to istall CNG kit in it to save money on fuel.
Now my kind request to all my Biradars to advise me what to do in the matter, sell my gold(Swift VDI) and buy brass(Camery)??????
These words were told to me by my known car agents near my office.

2007 Swift VXI(new) Brought in 2007 selling alto for 2 lakhs. Later sold in 2010
2005 Wagon-r(used) (for some work purpose) sold in 2010.
2008 Alto LX(for wifey) (Used) sold in 2010.
2002 Alto VX(my dream vehicle) still with me in my home town.
2005-2006 Safari VX(Brought in 2010 still with me. Impressed a Lot.

The cars which were departed in 2010 were purely for my Investment(Flat) or else i might have only departed wagon-r

Still i am not sure why i have craze for cars, visits the market every now and then always try to pickup the cars which are in steal price.

recently i came through a safari of my friend(2009) driven around 1,10,000 kms, and it came to me for 2 lakhs, but i was not in india made it sold to one dealer for 4 lakhs, and my friend is waiting for me to return to india to give me a big treat.

Veerji, A bit off topic this post, eh? You can check the value of the "brass" Camry at Carwale.com - Check value of your car for FREE - CarWale - and compare it to the "gold" Swift. I have a suspicion that the "brass" might turn out to be 'silver' and the "gold" may not be 22-carat.

Since your son is exchanging a diesel car for a petrol one, it would depend on how many km the car is driven each year. The Camry will cost more every time you take it for service - it is a more expensive car to start with, however Camrys are very durable and the car you are buying seems to have low km on the odometer for a 8 year old car (2011 is almost ending). I am not sure installing CNG for a 8 year old Camry that you might not keep for as long as a new car would make economic sense.

Luna - don't remember the date as soon it was introduced in the market we picked up from the first batch. After a long discussion, it is far better than Suvega moped that was available in the market.

First four wheeler Maruthi 800 brought as second hand that has covered 50 K on Odometer with lot of extra fittings and stickers. Spent 2 days to remove the unwanted wiring available in the car and extra stickers - 1992 to 1998
Once again replaced with Maruthi 800 with A/c 1998 Dec (clocked 95k on the day of selling) that has been very recently upgraded to Fiat Punto 90 HP during this year August 2011
Just before buying M 800, I bought Kawasaki Bajaj 4S still with me serving the purpose at my native place
