According to a media report, Audi is planning to launch the Q8 SUV in India in January 2020. However, the carmaker has reportedly started accepting bookings already. It is expected to be imported as a completely built unit (CBU).



The Audi Q8 is based on the MLBevo platform. The Q8 features a single frame octagonal grille and LED headlights. It has a coupe-like side profile and rides on 22-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the Q8 gets LED tail lights and an LED light bar that extends across the tail gate. On the inside, the Q8 comes with twin-touchscreens, 3-spoke steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster.

In India, the Audi Q8 is expected to be offered with a 3.0-litre petrol engine producing 335 BHP and 500 Nm. The engine could be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and the Quattro all-wheel drive system.

So, they are going ahead with the no diesel thing in India! So, this means that the Q7 facelift will also loose the diesel (and also the new A8)! Huge Mistake because the Q7 and Q8 are not the Porsche Cayenne or Macan that people will tolerate no diesel in such a huge SUV.

Rightly said! Not having the 3.0 TDI is going to give the Q8 a body blow for two reasons:

1. Customers of large SUVs love their diesels. It's just a buying trend that isn't going to change overnight.

2. That 3-liter turbo petrol in such a large + heavy + AWD SUV is going to be a guzzler. I expect 3 - 4 kmpl in Indian traffic.

I wish Audi India was sensible enough to continue with the creamy VAG diesel engine family. Such big SUVs require that low end slug of torque. It seems like Audi India leadership has gone for a toss.

I live near AoA corporate office in Michigan and have seen several of these on road from early this year.

It has a great road presence especially in Dragon Orange & Galaxy Blue exterior shades and should hit home run in India especially among celebrities.

I have checked this car and took a smallish test drive. Its looks like a poor attempt to me when seen in person. With Q7 at 60ish and this twice the cost, I don't see a reason to pick this. Maybe poor man's Urus

There used to be a time when I used to drool over the Audi Q7 with the V8 diesel, with the advent of downsizing and malnourished Indian rupee we seem to be seeing the same with 2 liter diesel commanding very stupid & greedy prices and now Audi doesn't want to give the Indian market the BS6 diesels. Now with only petrol and V6 for this humongous SUV I think Audi should provide a petrol pump at home just like EV makers are providing wall chargers at home to fill these gas guzzling SUV's. Looks like Audi doesn't want to be caught fudging on emission figures.

Such gifts don't work these days.

Virat Kohli has been the brand ambassador with Audi India & has posed with the RS5, seen in the R8 etc. But overall that hasn't helped (Read 'Saved') Audi India as a brand.

They need the following;

1) Better/Newer Products (Timely)
2) Better Engines
3) Faster Cars (More Go with the Show)
4) Innovation in their Lighting/DRL technology which had initially created a lot of buzz in India for them.
5) Stop announcing things like NO Diesels from next year, WE LOVE THE DIESELS IN BIG SUV's at the same time BIG Diesels in car's like A4, A6, Q5 etc also should be implemented.

& lastly if Audi India is reading this, ask your top level guy (Audi India) to take a break & hire my services instead, il do a better job, oh ITS TRUE !

The new Audi Q8's first owner is Virat Kohli himself.





As India moves from BS 4 to BS 6 emissions standards - Audi will offer a completely new product lineup - beginning with the brand-new Q8.

The Audi Q8 measures 4.99 meters in length, 2.00 meters in width, 1.71 meters in height and has a wheelbase of 3.00 meters.



The Audi Q8 comes with a single frame octagonal grille and LED headlights. It has a coupe-like side profile and rides on 22-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the Q8 gets LED tail lights and an LED light bar that extends across the tailgate.

On the inside, the Q8 comes with twin-touchscreens, 3-spoke steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster. The optional S Line Exterior package adds a body kit and the S Line Sports package comes with sports air suspension, flat bottom steering wheel and sports seats.



The Q8 is powered by a 3.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 335 BHP and 500 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive system. The car has 7 driving modes and comes with optional all-wheel steering. Audi claims that the Q8 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h.

As part of Audi Exclusive, customers can choose from 54 exterior colours, 11 interior colours and 9 wooden inlays.

Except for a different shape (hate it or like it), there is no reasons why someone will spend twice the money over Q7.

The least they could have done was to launch this in RS configuration. Even at little higher rates, it might have got them some customers who need something fast.

Maybe some Bollywood guys consider this but I have my doubts at this price. They won't recover the launch costs probably.

As someone who has an entry level Audi, I have lost any interest in the brand's Indian line up.

These next gen cars are already upto a year old in the global markets.

And when they finally do bring the cars, it's in some wierd spec. The A6 doesn't have an air suspension or even soft close doors. The Q8 is coming in with a petrol engine.

And on a personal note, I don't think these products are as good as their predecessors. Fake vents, black plastics everywhere in the interior and so on.

A 3.0 litre petrol engine with 500 NM would be insufficient for such a large vehicle. Why, even the Colvo 2.0 litre petrol in T8 guise offers 400 hp and 630 NM. Audi just does not seem to be competitive on power and efficiency on their petrol engines.

They could have plonked the 4.2 V8 petrol in this - sure fuel efficiency will nose dive but the driving experience would be awesome.
