The first image of the VW Tiguan facelift has leaked online. The SUV was snapped during an ad shoot.



The spy image suggests that the Tiguan could get an updated front fascia. It has new twin-pod wraparound headlights and a redesigned grille with chrome inserts. The new front bumper appears to have larger vents with C-shaped chrome inserts. The SUV also has chrome window surrounds and is riding on black alloy wheels.

In India, the Tiguan is offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 141 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 340 Nm @ 1,750-2,750 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The Tiguan facelift is rumoured to be unveiled at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show.

That Golf inspired front-end looks much better than current meek looking front (no offense of any Tiguan owners). It appears to have a much more assertive and aggressive look, giving it way more presence than before. Hope Volkswagen gets this to India as soon as it is officially launched, instead of selling us the old one.

Clean & understated designs (like most VWs) are the easiest to enhance at the factory level, or modify in the after-market (unlike say, fluidic Hyundais). And the Tiguan badly, badly needs a good facelift. I know way too many deals that have been broken because of its sober / boring looks.

They must also address the annoyingly bumpy ride quality. There is no reason for a premium crossover to keep its owners uncomfortable like this.

Both are easy fixes. Just learn from the Kodiaq, for heaven's sake!

Tiguan face-lift spied.

Although it may appear undisguised at first glance, the prototype is actually wearing camouflage on the front and rear bumpers. Perhaps a more obvious type of mascara is on the headlights, with stickers slapped onto the actual clusters to try and make us believe they won’t change that much with the facelift. However, can clearly see the LED light signature and the configuration of the headlight similar to what the Golf Mk8 has.

2021 VW Tiguan almost undisguised, gets a sportier styling.

Looking far more aggressive than the current model, this facelifted prorotype has apparently been equipped with the R-Line package. As a result, it has a sporty front bumper with a large air intake that spans nearly the entire width of the vehicle. It also features C-shaped accents and a splitter with chrome trim.

The bumper isn’t the only change as we can see a revised grille with slimmer bars and a wider lower opening that curves up at the outside edges. The headlights are also new and they now flow into the grille.

Volkswagen Tiguan facelift teaser out

Volkswagen has released a teaser image of the Tiguan facelift.

The SUV gets a redesigned front fascia featuring a hexagonal grille and twin-pod LED headlamps. The front bumper has also been reworked and now comes with an updated airdam. The SUV is also expected to get ORVMs with integrated turn indicators.



The first image of the updated Tiguan had surfaced online back in January 2020. That car had chrome accents on the grille and bumper. It also had chrome trim around the windows and black alloy wheels.

In India, Volkswagen has replaced the Tiguan with the Tiguan Allspace. It is powered by a 2.0-litre, turbo petrol engine that produces 187 BHP @ 4,200 rpm and 320 Nm @ 1,500-4,100 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission, which sends power to all four wheels.

Tiguan is available to buy in 80 percent of all countries on earth.

In 2019 results, the Tiguan has also become the best-selling SUV in Europe and one of the world’s three most popular sport utility vehicles.

2021 VW Tiguan Facelift Debuts With New R Variant with an output power of 316 HP.

Europeans will get a new plug-in hybrid and a high-performance Tiguan R. The former has 242 hp (180 kW / 245 PS), while the latter boasts 316 hp (235 kW / 320 PS).
