I think he means nhc vtech. I would never associate the word "peppy" for a NHC

In the show atleast VTEC was not mentioned but I agree that if any comparisons have to be drawn then it has to be VTEC
From the look of it as shown didnt look sophisticated, looks like maruti has made it DESI

As Lambo stated, Maruti has had only failures in the 6+ lac segment (Baleno, Vitara). This is a very important product for them. However, times have changed for Maruti in the recent past (as compared to 7 years back when the Baleno was launched). Its image is definitely on the upswing with yuppie products (Swift etc.) and consistently topper JD Quality rankings for service etc. Also, unlike the Baleno, the SX4 is not outdated, basic or with an ugly rear end.

Expect Maruti to play the FE and value card. In terms of product, there is little that can go wrong. Its the pricing and positioning that needs max attention.

At a local maruti dealer, I was able to get a sneak peek at the sx4.Its a pity i couldnt get in and feel the car since he didnt have the key, but anyways here are some photos atleast.









i guess thats a lot of snaps . well if there is one thing that never lets my enthusiasm in cars die, its this group. its only because of all you folks that I still want to do more. well coming to the car, the copper colour isnt exactly attractive. but the car as a whole is MEATY with large chunks of mirrors, and the wheels are awesome! the outer design is nowhere close to honda city in terms of styling, but i am a person who sits inside and would like to see the car from inside, so i ll excuse the looks. if i am right, the silver and black will sell like hot cakes! the indicator lamps are great and maruti has done a good job. the gear shift looks sweet and in my opinion would make the driver feel good. the upholstery is not exactly honda like, but should suffice. the dashboard is the best part, simple, elegant and with nice dials and knobs. they look ultra cool and uncluttered. the left of the dashboard slopes like on the ikon, so is not much usable to stack up things. the sx4 posters at (especially showing the black car) were awesome!

i ve made another 50k totalling 1 lac now. will have to TD and see what I am gonna end up with. if anyone has the money and asks me are the differences between vxi and zxi worth it, i would say YES the only things this car would need are teflon coat and tint for the glasses, otherwise everything else is already there! though i strained my eyes to look through the dust, i couldnt quite spot the words SRS AIRBAG on the steering. maybe my eyesight is bad. as for the camera, its a 2MP camera on the motoming.

Are those 16" wheels? If so, the brakes are HUGE. Bigger than the Accord's, I would think.

The car looks good overall and should be a hit if priced correctly. Rest the peace of Marutis service is always there. The only gripe i have is the front quarter glass at the A pillar . I just dont like it.

What is the wheelbase of the SX4 compared to the Swift. I ask because the rear legroom in that picture looks decidedly minimal and almost Swift like.

@dippy i agree with you, i hate that quarter glass kind of styling, in fact as ram pointed out in a modded sx4, an elongated bonnet would have given this car some character

@rtech - nice observation. i too didnt feel so nice looking at the space at the back, with a car of 8 lacs, the least one expects is good back seat space. but i must point out that the left side passenger seat at front was stretched out completely to the back, so if i move it foward, then the space would be better behind.

i m in a confusion as to what the pricing could be seriously. the pratham guy said 10 lacs, but i m sure he was blabbering away nonsense. the bimal guys accurately maintain 7.3 and 8.1 - 8.2 as the price, one cant be so sure unless some sort of prior information has been leaked out. but god if this is priced at 10 lac or even 9 for that matter, its going to be an utter flop. 7-8 is a spot on price where they can expect people to swarm like bees in numbers to buy this machine. keeping fingers (s)x4'd

these tv shows are so dumb,ive seen them praise worst riding car for its ride and mentioning things that doesnt even matter.To top it all they are as good in cars as a person who does not even know the ABC of cars.
