Maruti surprised premium hatch buyers with the Swift's refreshingly new and aggressive design and build quality.
The company will be hoping to do the same with the SX4 — exceed the expectations of the sedan buyer in the upper A3 segment.
Similarly, the overall dimensions of the SX4 have again been chosen to offer more to the customer in this segment compared to the competition in this price class. So, the SX4's wheelbase and width will actually compare favourably to cars priced in the Rs 10 lakh plus price segment.
Accentuating the look and feel of the SX4's size is the strong raised shoulder line and the high ground clearance of 190mm. Flared wheel arches attempt to distract the onlooker's attention from the large gaps between body panels and tyres.

7.5L ex showroom expected for the ZXi ? That would be probably about 8.25L on road ?

Wooohooo bring it on MUL - lets thrash the NHC.

Make that 16" on the ZXi !

BTW what are the onroad prices of NHC iDSI(competing against VXi) and VTEC(competing against ZXi).

The dealers have also been talking about a similar pricing strategy so I guess this is very much on the right track, well then This is the best thing that could happen. The competition is surely about to be blown away.Unlike the Logan this car really speaks of quality[had a peek at it,thats it] and if there are hordes of people buying it and it forces the competition to change it would be the best that could have happened.

This may very well be the death knell for the toyota corolla. For the time being honda is also going to feel the heat so much so that expect something drastic by the year end itself, maybe an executive variant like the corolla was forced to come up with because load the NHC with more gizmos like the SX4 ZXI and see prices touching 10lakh.This would be the first time that Honda actually sees some competition and would be an important precursor to the battle in the small car segment by 2010.The sx4 can give us an idea whether maruti would be able to do battle with Toyota/Honda/Nissan expect all manufacturers to be tracking the SX4's success.

The rear suspension is pedestrian on paper. Let us see how it performs on the road. Also, drum brakes on the rear?

Finally, the ground clearance needs to be reduced, although I am sure all the people here who tackle gravel rally stages would be very pleased.

Quite sometime back when the pics of the SX4 first started making rounds here, many were put off by the visible gap just above the headlamps.....now with the excitement of the impending release folks seem to have forgotten it...just wondering if people are willing to overlook a minor blemish (for lack of a better word) compared to the overall package or is it something else...
