these are show room prices in Bangalore.
great prices. Would be surprised if the car isnt a big hit with this prices.
Would someone know how to calculate the on-road prices from this in Bangalore?

"P.S. I feel terrible for those who recently bought the Baleno."

How much of the market will this eat into??

Interiors - D segment quality
Space - C or D?
Engine/Performance - C-
Price - C-
After sales service - Great
Snob value - C
VFM - Great

Would this eat into the C+/D segment market as well? To do so, would just a great engine add the icing to the cake?

I am trying to draw a parallel to the Laura
Interiors - D+ quality
Space - C
Engine - Great
Price - D
After sales service - Sucks
Snob value - D segment
VFM - people thought so..
I think it ate into the Accord,Sonata and the Camry market..

Even mahindra will have to rethink the logan petrol strategy.... its looks horribly overpriced in comparison to SX4.
I am loving it... it looks great, the interiors and the equipments list is long, they havent cringed on safety too... a very very nice car for the price.

Should sell really well. I can see it being declared a winner without a test drive (since maruti doesn't require one). If the ride is good then god save the competitors. I am willing to wait for a year for a diesel SX4.

I think the FE factor will still be the no.1 issue. Honda was the first company to figure out that Indians want a big car, with great mileage and acceptable performance. Ford figured out later, with their 1.4 TDCi.
Frankly speaking, the SX4 would have an even better chance if it came with the 1.3 Esteem engine, with a dozen buzzwords thrown in. Maruti would even be able to meet demand comfortably...

Chennai SX4 prices are :
SX4 Vxi 631000
SX4 Zxi 702000

Compare this with the ex-Showroom prices for the competition :
Fiesta 1.6 ZXi 651000
Fiesta 1.6 Sxi 711000

Aveo 1.6 LT Limited Edition 676474
Aveo 1.6 LT Option Pack 722527

Verna i (Petrol) 624977
Verna Xi (Petrol) 643438
Verna XXi (Petrol) 701432

City ZX EXi 690000
City ZX GXi 740000
City ZX VTEC 813000

I guess its pretty clear how things are going to turn out going forward.

If FE is below 10 kmpl for City driving, then this car is not going to sell like hot cakes in spite of the attractive price. Hope it will be at least 10 kmpl (considering the heavy weight).

IMHO.. the wraparound headlights doesnt suit the sedan SX4.. though it looks nice on the Hatch/Mini SUV version of SX4.

Off-topic: mobike008 - I saw u today morning driving along on Panjagutta - necklace road ..

Good compliation of the prices, SB.
The City will need to do something really significant to stop the SX4 from being an outright winner.

Check out how dangerously close the ZXi and the City EXi prices are !!

Seeing the way they priced the Swift-D, i was expecting exorbitant pricing on this one too.. but kudos, MUL !!

On the next iteration of the SX4, plz get rid of that quarter glass though !

Well my dad's happy now.. He is kinda Maruti Loyal loooooool..... but at th end at "?" comes in with regard to diesel hehe...

But still we have to see how maruti will pull this off. Even Aveo is good looking and have a top notch pricing considering Fiesta and City....

Plonking a 1.3(even a worked over) esteem engine in such a heavy car will kill the enjoyment of driving! It would be akin to the 1.2 Siena/1.1 Getz....good for the city...lousy for the highway.
