Coming up next : Getz production starts by march end

This is the new Hyundai Getz that will hit Indian roads soon. Hyundai Motor India will start production of this new face-lifted model from March.
But the initial few months' production rolling out of the company's Chennai plant will all be exported.
The face-lifted Getz is expected to be launched in the domestic market by the middle of this year and just like the company's export plans, the new version of this premium hatch will be introduced in India with both petrol and diesel engine options.
Hyundai officials are tight-lipped about the engines that the new Getz will be rolled out with.
But the car is already being offered in many European markets with new 1.1-litre and 1.4-litre petrol engines and a 1.5-litre common-rail direct injection diesel engine.
The 1.1-litre petrol engine and the 1.5-litre (CRTD) diesel engine that the new Getz is offered with in markets such as the UK will be a perfect match for meeting the lower excise duty norms set by New Delhi.
With a total length at 3,825mm, which is within the 4,000mm limit, pricing the new Getz with these engines can be extremely aggressive.
The new CRTD diesel engine has been developed in-house by Hyundai and can be tuned to offer over 108 horses of peak power.

CRTD?????????

I thought hyundai cars used CRDi tag all over the world...

Also... The length is within the limts... But does the 1.5L diesel qualify for tax benefits???????

Getz is a good car. But Hyundai must make sure that they price the Getz competitively in the price sensitive Indian market. Otherwise it will difficult for them to match Swift's sale volume.

the main task ahead of hyundai is actually to revive the getz brand which quite honestly has sunk in India, initially after launch, and totally washed after Swift's intro. But have to say that 1.5L diesel motor looks like the correct platform to do so.
btw will it be the same motor that does duty in Verna or a new one. i suppose it would be the same. else they would have much rather incorporated the old 3-pot gem that the Accent CRDi used to have.

the getz with all its big car space and a powerful diesel engine can dethrone the Swift Diesel if Hyundai plays its cards right, which unfortunately, it has been unable to do apart from a certain Santro.

The hatchback scene is as hot as it getz...

Getz was always a good car with loads of space for a hatchback. I guess they lost their way with the pricing. Hope they dont commit the same blunder again.

I guess the anticipated one would be the specs on the CRDI engine and the price point for it.

Somehow didnt like the new grill on the Getz. Looks awfully similar to a previous version of the Santro wrt grill design

Yes .. any diesel car with length less than 4000mm and engine capacity below 1500 CC qualify for excise duty cut.

presently getz gives a mere 83ps with a 1.3 L engine ..whereas swift gives a 90 with a lower capacity engine.. wondering how much power wuld the new getz deliver wit a 1.1 L engine and the same weight !

Hyundai to do a new gen+old gen once more

Korean car major Hyundai will launch a new version of its premium hatchback 'Getz' under a new name 'Getz Prime' by the end of this month in India.

"This model will be both for exports and domestic market. While it will retain the name 'Getz' for exports to the European market, we will launch it as 'Getz Prime' in the domestic market,"

Towards the third quarter we are planning to bring the diesel variant of Getz Prime with 1.5 litre common rail direct injection (CRDi) engine, similar to the one in Verna,
