Maruti Suzuki currently sells 10 BS-VI compliant cars across different segments.

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has clocked cumulative sales of 5,00,000 BS-VI compliant vehicles in the mass car segment, claims the automaker.

Maruti Suzuki launched its first BS-VI petrol model in April 2019 and now it sells 10 models that comply with the new emission norms.

Commenting on this, Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, MSIL said, “We thank our customers for being early adopters of BSVI technology in our mass offerings. This achievement reaffirms the growth potential of new engines and technologies in India.”

“Early introduction of the BS-VI compliant engine in our popular models represents our commitment to government’s vision for clean and green environment,” Ayukawa added.

The 10 BS-VI compliant petrol models sold by Maruti Suzuki are Alto, Eeco, S-Preso, Celerio, WagonR, Swift, Baleno, DZire, Ertiga and XL6.

The BS-VI complying Alto and Baleno were launched in April 2019. The WagonR, Swift and DZire were introduced from June 2019 onwards. Upgraded Ertiga and XL6 were introduced in July and August last year, respectively.

Maruti's BS-VI sales in 11 months to February zoom past its BS-IV off-take.

It has sold over 700,000 units of BS VI vehicles between April 2019 and February 2020, higher than total of 659,000 BS IV cars sold during the same period.
