Yup, its coming by the end of the year with CRDi.

Is it the GM common rail engine[TCDI] or isuzu common rail engine, also now that toyota owns a stake in Isuzu how is this partnership[GM-isuzu] going to carry into the future.

All new or only 'CRDI'd?

Hi BUSA,

Do you think it's:
  1. Just the addition of the CRDI engine, or
  2. CRDI + Minor facelift to look like the Indonesian ones, (http://www.isuzu.co.jp/world/product...ther.html), or
  3. The all new SUV/MUV platform from Isuzu-GM (http://www.isuzu.co.jp/world/press/2006/p_0613.html)
Thanks,
ItWasntMe

Marginal change; I had to actually look very close to see any difference. That huge console on the inside looks to be the housing for the stereo? Other controls? The Tavera needs a facelift badly. GM should also increase the equipment level on lower-end versions.

Good pics as always, Tushky. Thanks for sharing.

And an engine which doesn't smoke as much. Maybe i need to search better but I always found taveras and sumos to belch black smoke much more often than scorpios and safaris

  1. The bigger bow tie has surely helped it look more Chevy-ish but the boxy design is a strict no-no. Looks more or less like it belongs 87-95 period.
  2. They could have done away with this design had toyota not launched the Innova .
  3. This is looking seriously dated among the good looking Chevy line up in India (apart from U-VA , still cant understand why they had bothered bringing it in india)

GM should keep the Tavera down market for taxi/fleet sales. Toyota left a gap there when they discontinued the Qualis. I know the Qualis has a face only a mother could love, but it is fairly bullet-proof and taxi operators love it.

GM should bring in the MU7 as a premium SUV instead of the Daewoo captiva. The MU7 is the Asian SUV from Isuzu that competes with the Endevour and the Fortuner.
MU-7

Gosh this things looks great, it comes with a 3.0 CRDI with VGT, cant we have this india instead of the captiva. I am sure if they get it in from the Thailand route (like the ford endevour) they can price it better too.

The Tavera has led a quiet life so far and the problem is that it dosent have anything to excite the buyer. We get into heated debates on Safari vs Scorpio whereas the Tavera in the same pricerange gets totally forgotten. With the new CRdi engine, hopefully things will change for the Tavera. Unfortunately the fat chrome grille and the huge logo make it look gaudy rather than Macho.

new tavera neo-2 now launched

:: AUTOCAR INDIA - CAR AND BIKE MAGAZINE ::

the stickers look hideous.this, along with a two-tone paint with an aveo-grille, make it look overdone.
dashboard looks much better but the stereo head interface looks chinese and looks as if fitted by a local roadside garage.

But in typical GM fashion a few slices of chrome here and there along with some wood finish, 3 spoke steering, sporty (or is it) side decal, larger grille, bigger Chevy badge and velour upholstery (leather upholstery for top end SS) have been added.
The new Tavera looks very hideous, infact i dont see a reason to buy it infront of the Innova. Read more about the Neo-2 here.
