I have been inside this factory in Pune way back in 1999-2000, the concerned person showed me each and everything inside the factory. I actually saw a merc being assembled.
I had gone there to do some technical (computer related) stuff over there. Had to spend close to 3-4 days over there.
I saw the E-series (or was it, not sure) with the 2 headlights being assembled, i was even allowed to sit inside one, and that was the only time i had or rather have sat in a merc.
i even saw them test drive some of the mercs and they did it reall fast.

@Rudra

You were actually allowed to take pictures inside the plant!? Because as far as I remember, the entire plant is off-limits (photography-wise), except the "trinket" section and from outside.

Did you check the Mechatronics lab inside? Its a beauty!

Me too have been to this factory in 2002 and its lovely. My Uncle used to head a company which assembled drive shaft, axle and A/cs for mercedes.

It is indeed a good factory. Just that I found it not that big . They used to produce/assemble some 1200 cars a year those days and the first current e250 in black color was being assembled there at that time. till that they had this od type straight twin headlamps E class

Went to the Triumph Factory (Job Interview) a could of weeks ago and that was immaculate too. They were putting bikes together at an amazing rate. That was quite clean, but not as nice as the Merc Factory in pune. I've to the Merc factory in Pune a few years ago and it is impressive.

Completely OT: Phew.. for a moment there, I thought it was the "other" Triumph factory that makes innerwear . Don't expect it to be very clean because its most probably located in China !!
