How is the market reacting to the frequent model upgrades?
A new year is being seen as the time when some minor modification are done on the cars.

All that most of the companies are doing are make some changes to the standard equipment and selling it as new version?

Won't the resale be affected becuase of these frequent new versions?

For the popular models like Alto/WagonR, the resale value may not be affected due to the cosmetic model upgrades. For the rest, it'll surely be affected.

and availability of the old model genuine spares.

Spares was something even I was thinking. For how many models will the companies hold stock of sapres and for how long.

This one place where HM must be having a huge advatage no worries of spares

Isnt there a rule or policy wherein the auto maker needs to have spare parts available for 15 yrs starting from the time the vehicle is phased out. I remember reading it in quite a few websites

No idea about the rule. But in practical NO!.

My RX 135 genuine spares are difficuilt to get now though the vehicle was discontiued only 2 years before.

The number of years depends upon company to company.

Now car manufacturers have started upgrading their models more frequently than Microsoft releases versions of Office and Windows.

Car are beginning to expire commercially before mechanically!

If everyone starts keeping their cars over 5+ years, the manufacturers will very soon become bankrupts!

One good trick is to restrict the supply of spare parts of old cars. AFAIK, there is a rule of 10 years in most countries but they play with it by not completely stopping the supply but making it more difficult to procure.

Are you sure the rule exists in India?

These frequent changes may one day lead to diposable cars. Once your car gets damaged just throw it.
