re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

Here's a render by our member SRK. (https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/members/srk.html)

Really love the alloys on this thing, though they're unlikely to make it into production.

re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

IMO, Magnite is likely to be a massive disrupter. Based on the article in Autocars' latest (May) issue, there are quite a few unique positioning elements:
  • Aggressive launch price, rumored to be “around Rs 5.25 lakh for the base variant.”
  • Higher variants to get a 360-degree camera, two-tone paint options and a premium set of alloys. 360 degree cameras have been restricted to cars around the 20 lakhs price point so far.
  • SUV looks - with bold stance, chunky wheel arches with cladding, scruff plates
  • Multiple engine and gearbox options - Both NA and turbocharged 1.0 engines as well
  • A 5-speed manual, an AMT and a CVT - along with multiple engine options, these to create a number of variants/combinations and cater to wide section of price points
  • Even the top end variant to be limited to a strict price cap, Autocar cites a cap of 6 lakhs, though I doubt that very much. Even if if they offered the top end variant with turbo engine +CVT at 8-9 lakhs, it would be substantially cheaper than the top end variants of the Ecosport, XUV300 or Venue.
  • As one final attempt at success in India, Nissan will come out guns blazing in terms of other value adds like service costs, warranties etc.

re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

Is there any info available on the crash worthiness of the CMF - A+ platform underpinning the Magnite?

Is it just me, or does this taillamp design look like a LED-ised/Facelifted version of the ones on the Triber? It also sports that Eagle Beak design highlight and looks the same.

Can it be that the Magnite will be a 5 seater version of the Triber from Nissan with slight inputs from the Go Cross concept (read, the Front portion and sides etc.)? Just speculating...

This is the only part of the news that excites me. I would have bought the Venue if the sunroof was not an SX exclusive. Dont see myself paying 10 Lakhs ex-showroom just to get a sunroof. Not for the Venue at the very least.

If this one has a sunroof for 7-ish, consider me sold.

re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

Interesting thread, but wondering why no test mule has been caught on roads if they were planning to launch in August this year

re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

Expected to launch in August, Nissan's compact CUV will be priced very competitively.

Quote:
-Magnite will have a crossover stance with chunky wheel arches lending the necessary visual mass. Headlight and tail-light clusters with LED elements, two-tone body paint and premium set of alloy wheels will add the necessary flash to the look.

- Magnite will come powered by a72hp/ 96Nm, 1.0-litre, three-cylinder BR10 petrol engine from the Renault Triber. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be standard, while an AMT auto is on the cards

-Higher-spec versions of the compact SUV will debut a new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, HR10 turbo-petrol engine that will make around 95hp. The punchier engine can be mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox, or a CVT automatic transmission

-Nissan Magnite prices will start at around Rs 5.25 lakh for the base variant, and even the turbo-petrol with a CVT could have a sub-Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom) price tag.

re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

The side profile is very reminiscent of the Jeep Compass, and that's not a bad thing.

95hp is a very modest power figure from a modern 1.0 turbo. Hope this means a smaller turbo and excellent driveability.

re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

Side profile looks promising. If priced & marketed sensibly, this product can save Nissan's boat from sinking in India.

re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

Nissan should bring in their new gen CVTs which slip a lot less and put down power better. The old CVT in the Micra and Sunny was BORING and honestly, rather sad for anything more than low speed city crawling. A good engine mated to a competent AT can strike gold in the budget segment. Ask VW about the Polo GT or Honda about the Amaze diesel CVT.

re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

Very excited about his car.
Nissan magnite and kia's new csuv (SONET).

The side profile of magnite looks the best so far in csuv segment. I hope there is not much cost cutting and no compromise on build quality.

Come August, we will get some good cars.

Looks little bit curved\rounded from the rear angle, somewhat similar to Kicks and Audi SUVs.

AutoCar Rendering was more sharp from behind in comparison and such design is more likable by us Indians in general IMHO

re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

This is exciting news. Exterior looks great. Hope they give us stunning interiors to match and punchy engines, and some more (after bench-marking with the industry). They have had enough time to research what works. Indians fall for loads of storage spaces and cubby holes, sun-roof, great screen which runs smooth, LED lights, tall stance and what not. Make this your best attempt, Nissan - and you will succeed!

Could be the camera Angle, but looks roundish from front windshield glass also.
Attaching comparison picture for reference.
