And from Motoroids

The design of this car really shines here. We can see a red harrier in the same video and its eye catching while the grey is elegant.

DEF tank of the BS6 Harrier. Doesn't look like it will have impact on the usable ground clearance.

Re: The BS6 Tata Harrier with 6-speed AT. EDIT: Launched @ 13.69 lakhs

Drove the top end AT harrier today, below are my impressions.

The Good.

Looks absolutely beautiful, specially in the red shade, though it's a very different metallic red. The show room demo piece already had swirl marks visible, this is just a day old car. See the picture, would need lot of TLC.

The knee is not touching the panel at-least in my driving position.

The chocolate brown interior colors look very nice.

Panel gaps are mainly consistent.

Side profile looks amazing in the red shade.

The sun roof adds a new dimension to the cabin, see the pics with Sunroof open and Sunroof closed.

Suspension is very good and it took on the bad roads real well, the ride was mainly planted, and the back seat comfort is also pretty good.

Had a good experience with the SA, he was eager to explain the car features, though went overboard sometimes, like suggesting me tha you can take the car for off roading. The test drive was pretty long and he never asked us to turn back by saying other customers are waiting.

Lot of boot space and clever hidden chamber.

Not so good

I found the drive to be average, the car starts off without any issues and builds speed gradually. The gear shifts are slick and you don't notice them. In eco mode, you can feel the weight of the car pulling it back. The sports mode really adds a new dimension and car pulls real well, and you can feel the engine is eager to rev.

But overall I was not too impressed, maybe I expected a bit more from this engine, or maybe my lack of driving a diesel powered SUV is the reason. I guess if I buy this in future, I will feel this as a compromise, or maybe I will get used to it.

Music system was semi decent, though loaded to the brim with speakers all around, I still found it to be a little above average. I played songs with my phone BT, and my current 4 year old l car system sounds so much better, it is an after market speakers though. I did not get much chance to fiddle with the settings, but maybe if I spend time with it, I can get the right sound to match my preference.

Tyres are Apollo and I would have expected tata to put better tyres.

The quality of certain plastic leaves lot to be desired, the rear AC vent are very very mediocre. If I am going to put 25.5 lakh rupees on a car, I would expect better plastics.

The alloys could have been better.

The Bad.

Maybe it's me used to petrol cars, I did not like the noise from engine in the cabin, I find it too intrusive. In sports mode a lot of noise filters through, and with Sunroof open it makes it that much worse. This probably would be a deal breaker for me personally.

The hand brake looks quirky.

How the plastics and paint will age, only time will tell, but at 25.5 lakhs it seems to be a bit lacking. Overall I think while I was very impressed on paper to pick harrier, I will say I walked out double minded.

There were few people lined up for test drive so could not take much photos.

Re: The BS6 Tata Harrier with 6-speed AT. EDIT: Launched @ 13.69 lakhs

What was stopping them from launching the 170ps version at launch? The niggles of a freshly baked car could be understood, but what was their justification about launching an under powdered engine for which already standard royalties might have been in order? Or, are the royalties decided on the version of tune?

Not wondering about just the AT variant!

Re: The BS6 Tata Harrier with 6-speed AT. EDIT: Launched @ 13.69 lakhs

Had my chance to test drive the Harrier AT today. The TD car was the XZ variant and did not have the panoramic sunroof. I was a little disappointed as I couldn’t experience it in the test drive.

Nonetheless, here are my driving impressions.

1. The left knee fouling with the center facia is not a problem anymore. This is due to the fact that you could have the drivers seat pushed back a little more since you have no use for the left foot.
2. The center arm rest continues to be useless. How I wish tata introduced the EPB and had a more ergo-friendly arm rest. Opportunity missed. Another sore point when this gets updated by Tata, say in the next 2 years or so.
3. The door opening lever sort of fouls with your hands when trying to open the doors for all doors. It’s not a deal breaker, but seriously who in Tata approved this design? It’s so easy to spot this poor design.
4. The USB is definitely more accessible but somehow the space for the phone holder is sort of cramped. No Wireless charger, but I guess it’s ok. Not a deal breaker.
5. I connected my iPhone to checkout Apple CarPlay and also the audio. Sadly, only the center part of the display renders the CarPlay screen. On either sides, you continue to see native screen UI to get into settings and other bits. Essentially, CarPlay is rendered on a tiny portion and it looks like you’ve stuck your phone on the screen. I am quite sure, Apple allows a wider resolution to be displayed on the screen, but Tata has not chosen that. I do understand that it might be handy to have the ability to jump into native settings quickly, but most users would seldom do that if you ask me, once you hook your phone. The touchscreen experience itself was a little jittery, not as good as my Sync 3 for sure. However, it was functional. Let’s move on.
6. Now to the other bits, the car felt more refined during the start. Outside noise is greatly insulated once the windows are shut. Oh by the way, no auto up window, not even on the driver side. This is indeed disappointing.
After checking out all this, it was time to start the test drive.

The car starts quite smoothly and it looks like it’s more refined right from the word go. The gear box felt very natural and the car felt very sprightly. In gear acceleration is indeed amazing and this engine+gearbox combo has worked wonders for this car. Suddenly, I felt like this is my car. It drove really well, somehow the steering also felt more sorted. I for a fact am not sure if there’s any improvement in this area at all from Tata, but felt good.

The power build up is very linear and the lag is non existent. I really loved the driving experience of the car. It certainly felt better than the compass.
The gearshifts are really smooth and one can hardly notice. Engaging the sports mode ensures the car holds on to each gear longer. To sum it in one line, the auto transmission gearbox did not disappoint me one bit.

The suspension feels very sorted and the car indeed rides on clouds.

The performance and the ride quality alone is leagues beyond the Cretas and Seltos. Damn, I should not even compare them. Harrier is definitely a class above and credit must be given where it’s due.

In short, Harrier is definitely in contention for me. I did not see a single deal breaker in this version of the car. So, anyone considering a car at about 20-25L price range, please take a look at Harrier and test drive it once before you decide.

From my previous rating of 3/5 to harrier, it is definitely now a 4.5/5.0 with all these improvements.

With Tata hopefully keeping it consistent on their manufacturing line and the Corona gods leaving us soon, Tata has a winner and the Harrier truly has arrived now.

On a side note, I also had the chance to look at Creta (no test drives yet). The car doesn’t look so bad in reality, but any novice would agree, Seltos has a more sorted look. Interiors are a step up and felt decent.

Between the Seltos, Creta, Hector, Harrier is indeed “Above All”.

Was that the Thrissur Hyson showroom? Seems familiar. I wanted to test drive the auto Harrier, if it's reached Hyson, i would pay a visit soon.

Thanks

Thank you. Once you find time, do write a short first impressions review of your car after delivery.

Yours must be the first XZA delivery of a tbhp member in Thrissur, I think. Yet to read about another team bhpian's Harrier auto from the district.

With embargo off, reviews have started pouring in.

He mentions it comes with a 15L tank for AdBlue/urea-mixture. Changing interval is around 12-15k kms & replenishment cost would be around Rs.1000/-

The closing line resonates what everyone have been saying : It should have been the car at launch. Never the less hope this sells well now as most of the key issues are addressed.

Source : ZigWheels

P.S: Small blip at 5:42mins when he accidentally mentions it as Hexa Automatic instead of Harrier Automatic. Understandable as being from the same stable & at similar price range, comparisons will always come up between the two.
