Tata Hexa Safari Edition could be on cards

Thanks to BHPian ksameer1234 for sharing these images with other enthusiasts!

A set of images posted on social media suggest that Tata Motors could be planning to launch a new variant of the Hexa called the Safari Edition. Details of this new variant are not known.

There have been rumours suggesting that the Hexa BS6 could be launched in Q4 2020. Like the BS4 version, it could be powered by a 2.2-litre Varicor diesel engine.

At present, the 2.2-litre diesel engine in the Hexa makes 148 BHP and 320 Nm in base trim and 154 BHP and 400 Nm in the higher variants. Transmission options include 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.

Such marketing blunders i say.
1. The name safari.
2. Font same as the ‘Tata Safari’.

Using this on the costlier flagship Hexa is fundamentally wrong to the brand and the existing customer. Thumb rule is to upsell-upbrand-upshift.

The reason, you’ve never heard of the Passat-Golf Edition

Re: Tata Hexa Safari Edition could be on cards

I expect this will be something like the tuff edition. But good going TATA to keep the interest in the hexa brand. What would really endear it to me is a 4x4 at of hexa. Or a 4wd/at version of harrier/gravitas. I know takers for awd are low but wish would you bring it. But alas, both aren’t happening.

No sir. Hexa- Safari is very different than passat-golf combination. They are very much like peers. Safari represented something unique which Hexa never was able to resonate because of its shape.

Almost every Hexa owner out there wanted a Safari at some point of time, but could not, since head won over the heart.

Re: Tata Hexa Safari Edition could be on cards

Just out of curiosity, does this imply that the Hexa will live on in a BS-VI variant?

Or does it imply that Tata is undertaking a stock clearance exercise of its existing BS-IV Hexas before the BS-VI deadline kicks in?

The cynic in me believes that Tata is hoping to do a Mahindra, by trying to get the old Hexa to go out on a high just as Mahindra did with the Thar, by peppering it with a heavy dose of Nostalgia.

Re: Tata Hexa Safari Edition could be on cards

So, what's next, a Safari Nexon edition? How about a Tigor Manza! j/k

Agree that they may want to tack on the name to make sure it sells. But what would Safari folks think? I'm sure there is a brand recall for Safari which, if in future they decide to launch, people will think more as Hexa than Safari itself? Quite confusing, at least for me.

Safari has remained Tata's iconic suv for more than two decades and this S'afari Hexa' combination might work for them, Hexa being a very capable product already.

I just loved that video. I don't know why I was smiling throughout the video; maybe it feels very much connected. Nice work there and it's really interesting to see them bringing a slew of interesting products. Can't wait to see the Hexa Safari Edition and hope it's something relatable to the name it carries

Re: Tata Hexa Safari Edition could be on cards

Hornbill sneakpeak’d as well at last?

I only hope they bring back Safari in a new avatar if they’re ever retaining 2.2 Varicor.

I would want the Hexa to live to see the light of a new day in BS6 times. Good luck Tata. I’m closely following you

Re: Tata Hexa Safari Edition could be on cards

Using the name of an iconic SUV brand like the Safari for a dying MPV like the Hexa is a big no-no in my opinion. Tata should save the brand name for one of its future SUVs. This episode reminds me of how Maruti used the famed "Zen" brand for the weird Estilo, and it made no difference at all.

Re: Tata Hexa Safari Edition could be on cards

There are some stones kept beneath the Safari Edition. Would this be Tata's own "Trailhawk"?

Might as well be! As they don't intend to have AWD on OmegaARC based vehicles, Tata may be wanting to milk the AWD capabilities of the Aria platform.

Re: Tata Hexa Safari Edition could be on cards

Finally, Tata has revealed the Tata Hexa Safari Edition with a BS6 compliant variant of the existing 2.2L Varicor engine at Auto Expo 2020.

Link to Carwale News:
https://www.carwale.com/news/tata-he...uto-expo-2020/

This is a refreshing news indeed, as there were rumours that Tata won't be upgrading the 2.2 Varicor engine to BS6 norms. As per the news, Tata will retail the Hexa with BS6 engine under the Safari Edition with a single engine having performance figures of 154bhp/400 Nm with 6 speed Manual and 5 speed Automatic transmissions. It is also reported that Hexa will be phased out by October 2020 with the introduction of the new Gravitas.
