Re: Mercedes-AMG GT 63S 4-Door Coupe launched at Rs. 2.42 crore

Beautiful, well engineered and timeless product by Mercedes AMG, but there are less than 5% of the rich class in India who'll spend approximately 3 crores (on road price) on a car which is not a proper 2 seater Sports car.
Lemme explain it to you -
Porsche 911 Carrera S and a BMW 5 Series
or
Mercedes AMG GT 63S

Beautiful, Well Engineered Car but with such pricing only super selective people group will be buying this.
IMHO if someone is spending 2.42 crores on a car, he/she will definitely be having a family sedan and would be spending this mental sum of money on a proper 2 door, 2 seater sports car.

Sir, the blank buttons actually light up when the car is started. It houses the exhaust valve open/close, traction control and many other things related to the driving experience. Other than that this is one hell of a car i would love to own someday but right now it is just a dream.

There will always be that one customer who would like to take his sports car for a fun ride with family. This will be appealing to them. Keeping aside the customer base, Mercedes is leaving no stone unturned. Bringing in entire product range to India speaks about their commitment.

Audi India, listening? If you want to capture the market, you need to show serious commitment.

It still amazes me that none of the majors think its worth selling a car to that one rich enthusiast with working knees who prefers an MT.

Admittedly, Mercedes has nothing with a manual intended for enthusiasts, just a few cut price models for fleets. But BMW and Porsche do.

Re: Mercedes-AMG GT 63S 4-Door Coupe launched at Rs. 2.42 crore

Touch-sensitive with haptic feedback buttons seem to be squared at today's smartphone generation. I doubt the prospective buyers' age to be from this era.

It seems to be quite a fingerprint magnet, to be honest. I'd much rather have actual physical buttons that exude quality with the reassuring tactility. Think more along the lines of Bentley's & Pagani's knurled knobs, brushed aluminium, magnesium/titanium switches and the likes.

I reckon its only the quality use of materials and craftsmanship that can justify this kind of a price tag. I mean sure, the rest of the interior is faultlessly gorgeous, as one expects from any modern Mercedes-Benz flagship. But, it is these little things, that would perhaps prevent someone to think entirely rationally and just go for it.

As @Octane99 mentioned, for the asking price one can rationally consider both, A purpose-built Porsche Carrera 911 + A BMW 5-series for the family.
