Re: Maruti @ Auto Expo 2020

Absolutely hopeless if they do not even showcase the long waiting Jimny

Re: Maruti @ Auto Expo 2020

This is what complacency looks like. The mighty have or will indeed fall if they keep up this good work.

I am really dumbfounded, what is Maruti trying to showcase here. Accessories and body kits?

Really disappointing at the lack of initiative. What about the Vitara AWD, the Jimny, perhaps a 4x4 / AWD Brezza. A new Engine perhaps..

Well if wishes were horses....

Re: Maruti @ Auto Expo 2020

And that folks is the company with 50% market share. How difficult is it to at least produce a few exciting concept cars? This was as bland as khichdi

Re: Maruti @ Auto Expo 2020

They have nothing to showcase? Parking a WagonR in Auto Expo? Come on MSIL. Please start taking things seriously, it wont be a cakewalk anymore.

By the way, did I just see a Paddle Shifter on the Swift Hybrid model? AMT with Paddle?

I can understand Maruti not wanting to invest in funky concepts. They are the market leaders and their secret sauce has never been exciting cars.

What I fail to understand is - why at all do they need to be at Autoexpo with such a half hearted attempt, and what do they expect to gain?

Re: Maruti @ Auto Expo 2020

Yawn! Are they really the market leader in India? Looks like there is no excitement or vision in the MS team who did the planning for the expo. Most of the vehicles could be seen at Nexa and Arena showrooms anywhere, why invest such a huge sum in the expo.

Just some regular showroom cars with body kits and sticker jobs along with a concept which will look nothing like this when it makes it to production.
This is such a boring stall. Mods, Please introduce a yaaaawwning emoticon.

The futoro-e if and when comes into production will look like a blown up Baleno at best. Jimny is the most awaited car from MS stable. otherwise I can visit my local showroom instead of the autoexpo. These days MS cars with dealer kits are better than the ones displayed here.

Re: Maruti @ Auto Expo 2020

Just one concept, and then mainly showcasing some minor cosmetic updates on the existing models in the major auto expo in a country where they are holding 50+% market share? Such a shame, Maruti. Better you don't participate there. Go hell in your kitted Celerios.

IMO, this boring stall shows the complacency from the part of Suzuki after the tie up with Toyota. No new concepts introduced except Futuro-E. No test mules of new Suzuki models spotted around the world.

Maruti has a huge cash reserve. What are they waiting for? Are they expecting Toyota to design new models for them? They are going to swallow you completely. Beware.

Jimny is expected in the auto expo, but with Sierra already conquering the enthusiasts's attention, Jimny won't attract many, IMO.

Re: Maruti @ Auto Expo 2020

While all of us are ridiculing maruti, the company is simply laughing at the competition. All this research, innovation, concepts..... for what?! Trying too hard!

Re: Maruti @ Auto Expo 2020

The Wagon R interior images confirmed the fact that MS is still a true blue desi company. Marble decals, I mean who can ever think of that. Now marble companies can also market tiles which can be put into the house you are building and also on the Wagon R when you purchase one.

And where is the Jimny, it is still uncertain whether it will be there or be given a miss.

The overall display seems so uninspiring. This is like someone saying you have to be there and then MS tells a dealer, go display your wares.

Re: Maruti @ Auto Expo 2020

I feel Maruti could have also opted out of Auto Expo just like Toyota and others. While they have been doing what they always did, others have taken the game to next level. Looks like future decisions at Maruti will eventually be dictated by Toyota only.

Every segment that maruti dominating(ed) is already seeing(or shortly) tough competition.

EV push and growth of premium segment has also given level playing field to the chinese.

Re: Maruti @ Auto Expo 2020

Well, fancy cars have never been an MS forte. They manufacture cars for the mass. But I agree and being an MS owner I find this really disappointing. I think MS should borrow some ethics from Tata. They can't take their biggest market for granted. Show some creativity and urge that you really care about your end users.

Yes, their complacency may start costing them now!

One near term example is the diesel BS6 debacle. Maruti has been caught off-guard totally, prematurely deciding that diesel car market will die with BS6. Competition like Hyundai, Kia, Ford, etc have played their cards well - and that should, at least, temporarily - impact the market share for Suzuki.

And one long term example is safety. Although the sales aren't down because of that reason yet - Maruti Suzuki should also understand that the next Insta generation who ridicules them now, will start becoming car owners in some time and will take an aversion to their products.
