Mahindra has a range of production cars, concepts, rickshaws, buses and trucks on display.

New launches take the elevated centre stage at the Mahindra pavilion. This year's theme is Driven By Passion. Note the Power Path at the entrance:

Mahindra Funster

The Funster concept is an open-top electric sports car. It comes with a 59.1 kWh battery pack and two electric motors, one on each axle. The power output is said to be 308 BHP. Mahindra claims that the 0-100 km/h time is 5 seconds and that the top speed is 200 km/h. The range is said to be 520 km:


The car has triple-pod headlights, V-shaped LED daytime running lights and an illuminated grille. The bumper houses a pair of three LED strips on both sides and gets FUNSTER lettering. The bonnet gets a black insert in the centre:


Aero design wheels get purple inserts. The 21-inch wheels are shod with 265/40 Pirelli rubber. Note the detailing on the wheelarch:


The car gets a floating tail light and the rear bumper has a silver skid plate with FUNSTER lettering:


Butterfly doors add to the visual appeal. See the way the sloping tail lights make it look like a spoiler:


The Funster is a 4-seater concept:

The car gets a U-shaped steering wheel. The instrument cluster and the head unit are combined into one. There's also a display for social media. Rotary controls for the climate control are placed on the dashboard. The dashboard and the centre console get copper trim:


Some additional touch controls are placed on the centre console along with a knurled rotary knob with a purple insert:

Mahindra eKUV100

The Mahindra eKUV100 is priced at Rs. 8.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It has a sealed off grille with purple inserts:


The car rides on black alloy wheels with purple inserts. There's also a purple insert on the C-pillar and behind the headlamps:


The SUV gets two charging ports. The one on the passenger side has the ME charging and is the fast charging port. It takes 55 minutes to charge to 80% using a fast charger:

The tailgate has a silver insert with a '+' and '-' mark finished in purple. The bumper also gets a silver skid plate:


The electric motor produces 54 BHP and 120 Nm:

On the inside, it is largely similar to the regular KUV100. It gets a silver trim on the dashboard instead of a black trim:

Mahindra eXUV300

Mahindra showcased an electric version of the XUV300. It gets new headlights with purple inserts around them, a silver bar connecting them, and a sealed off grille. The front bumper gets new detailing as well as purple inserts:


The side profile gets some futuristic design elements. The roof rails are finished in purple:


The ORVMs are replaced by cameras placed on the sides. Looks like an aftermarket job:


The dual-tone aero wheels are finished in purple and grey and also get silver inserts:


At the rear, it gets new tail lights with a purple insert in them and a purple bar connecting them. The rear bumper gets new detailing and purple inserts:

The electric XUV300 is not quite ready yet. The gear lever was a dummy placed and came out easily:


This is not a new instrument cluster. It is just a sticker:


Open the fuel cap and you'll find that this car is actually a petrol-powered vehicle:


Looks like a regular Marazzo from the outside, but it comes with QR code stickers placed on the outside. A person with the iPad scans the codes which reveal all the safety features in this car:


This Marazzo is a prototype and it comes with driver assistance systems like cross traffic alert, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot assist, and lane keep assist:


There's a camera on the inside to monitor driver alertness and drowsiness. Warnings are provided in the form of audio and vibration from the steering. A camera at the front detects objects and brakes automatically. There are two radars at the back for blindspot detection:


There are two other XUV300s on display:


One of them is a sportz edition:

The E-Ludix is powered by an electric motor producing 3.35 BHP and 35 Nm. The range is said to be around 50 km:


The mStallion range of petrol engines on display. The engines are said to be BS6 stage 1 and stage 2 compliant:


1.2-litre, 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre engines on display:


MESMA stands for Mahindra Electric Scalable Modular Architecture. 350 stands for voltage of the entire system. MESMA 350 can support motor sizes from 60 kW to 280 kW:


All components including the motor, the transmission, the electronics, is all built in-house at the Chakan plant. Only the battery cells are imported:


There are different voltage levels under use. MESMA 48, a 48V system, is used in the Atom, while MESMA 350 is used in cars like the electric XUV300. MESMA 650 is used in electric buses:


Cero is claimed to be India’s first government authorized vehicle recycling company. It is a tie-up between Mahindra Accelo and the government of India and it has two facilities - in Greater Noida and Chennai. Cero means Zero in Spanish:

Year after year - Mahindra proves that the Auto Expo is just a game for the 'funsters' in the company.

But truth be told - this concept is not as bad as some of their past atrocities like the XUV 5OO Aero, Thar Daybreak, TUV 3OO Stinger and the likes. Even the KUV looks manageable in the EV avatar.

This is a new low for Mahindra.

Placing a petrol powered XUV 3OO with sticker job and fake gear levers as an EV concept. Shame that this is all they could come up with! Mahindra truly has wasted the Reva acquisition and allowed others like TATA Motors and MG to run away with the electric game.

Just when I thought Mahindra had learnt a thing or two about designing cars, they revealed the eKUV 100 and even the eXUV 300. Looks ghastly!

Its difficult to believe this is the same auto giant that has acquired one of the leading design houses globally. The eKUV 100 is going to end up in the same way the E-Verito did. I see a lot of things in common between the two. Laughable design, dated interiors and lack of desirability around the product.

The eXUV 300 on the other hand might have a better shot if priced well and if they can make amends to the design.

Mahindra needs to learn that an electric car doesn't mean one always has to slap on blue and white inserts and seal the front grille. They might want to take a leaf out of TATA's book in that case.

What is this obsession of manufacturers with slapping the color blue on every thing electric. Sure it was adapted as a color of the future and forward thinking and all that but these people are taking it too far. There is no more novelty in it and its fast becoming the norm. Imagine if every electric appliance company decided to do it with all their new products and inventions. All home interiors and exteriors would have looked like the EV's being launched now, blue accents everywhere.

So No new XUV500, No new Scorpio, and No new Thar. Nothing new, don't know why they wasted so much of money for being part of this show.

eKUV gets a 147 KM range (which in real world use should be 130 if you are lucky). Does Mahindra think that people would use this as a scooty replacement? This range means charging every day for city commute and any highway trips are basically out of question. Just when you think KUV can't get any more trashy, Mahindra dumps a new truckload of garbage on it.

The "sport" XUV300 is basically an aftermarket mod done for somebody with more money than brains.

Looks like Mahindra has won the ugliness contest against themselves. Makes me wonder if people were paid real money to come up with the "objects" they have displayed here.

Mahindra is the biggest disappointment at this year's auto expo IMO. They've a whole lineup of fan-favorite cars to be launched- THAR, Scorpio, XUV5OO etc and they choose to showcase a fake electric version of XUV3OO. Yeah the Funster concept is cool, but we all know it's likelihood to make it to production.

As a Mahindra shareholder, their auto expo stall worries me. The sticker jobs and the fake EV looks very cheap. It was better for them to skip the expo if they don't have anything worth for a demo. The leaks suggest there is a good product pipeline under development. So maybe it is just that auto expo happened at a bad time for them.

When you compare TML and M&M, it is usually TML who creates the vow factor first, but M&M executes the same plan in a better way after catching up. Happened with Scorpio, XUV500 and XUV300. Hope that they do the same in case of EVs too.

The only thing good about this pavilion was planting trees for 500 steps on the power-path. The fake eXUV3OO is yuck! the eKUV1OO is not very attractive either. In addition to the over use of blue, I hate this closed grill in body colour. If at all I buy an ev with a thing, the first thing I'll do is get that grille painted in black. Agreed those grilles are not functional in EVs unlike ICE cars, but making it in body colour makes it so ugly.

I knew MahindraElectric is up to nasty stuff. The moment I saw the XUV300 EV photo, I had this gut feeling that its fake. I can't begin to explain how angry I'm right now. Gonna bash ME all over internet for this.
