Rushlane should use spell check. Spelling of variant is not correct.

Hyundai had a huge success with the 1,400cc diesel E+ variant of Creta. Now that they have a 1,500cc BS-6 engine and a quirky car (compared to market leader Seltos), for sure bare-bone E variant of diesel Creta will be priced at 9.99L.

This will help them gain a good market share in the states like Karnataka where ex-showroom price of > 10L attracts additional 18.8% of road tax along with 1% TCS compared to 15% road tax for < 10L ex-showroom vehicle. The Seltos base diesel HTE was launched at 9.99 and now increased to 10.35 due to grand success of Seltos. I am expecting Hyundai also to follow the same route.

I feel they will launch the EX Petrol Manual and the E Diesel Manual both at <10 Lakhs. A stretch hope is the Diesel EX at 9.99 Lakhs with E being under 9 lakhs. That would make it a real killer.

re: 2nd-Gen Hyundai Creta @ Auto Expo 2020. Edit: Launched at 9.99 lakhs

I'm a bit surprised & disappointed that Hyundai went ahead with the mid-mounted rear stop lamp - and that it got authorized by ARAI.

In our traffic conditions where truck and bus drivers are always keen on tail gating cars in front even in gridlocked road - a high mounted stop lamp at the back is an absolute must. This lamp on gen2 Creta is at the same level as the side stop lamps. What value addition does it bring? It is supposed to be placed at a position that will be seen when the side lamps are not visible. When a high seating bus driver comes too near from rear in traffic - he can only see the high-mounted stop lamp. Not the side ones!! For god's sake Hyundai.

Hyundai needs to be awake enough to distinguish between cosmetic and safety aspects of some items on the car. Really.

Off topic, but i too have previously highlighted a similar aspect on the Santro too, where the rear reflecters , Don't Reflect!!...

ARAI is giving a hall pass to Hyundai, it seems

So, a safety request to:-
  • Santro Owners , you need to paste reflector tape

  • Creta Owners , you need to accessorize with rooftop spoiler/sharkfin antenna with LEDs

I will be with the team hate it. The Auto Expo black was hiding the hideousness of this design quite well. White brought it out more purely.

Can't say I hate it but I didn't liked it at all. The current generation has such simple understated timeless look, why they had to spoil it with this hideous design. Seltos looks so much better from rear. However, this one looks bigger than Seltos or it is the camera angle which makes it appear so.

I am sure this will grow on me over a period of time. With the change in the front grill, I have kind of started liking the fascia. The only thing i dislike is the position of the stop lamp which is also a safety concern as one of our friend did highlighted.
Now with the leaked variant list showing that the 1.4 turbo petrol engine would be available in the top-end version with all bells and whistles, I am looking forward for the TD and confirm my choice of color and get one parked in my garage soon.
Any news on the 360 view camera coming with creta? All I could understand from the numerous videos on youtube that the ORVMs had puddle lamps and no cameras on the display car. That is one feature i would not like to miss out after paying this much.
Hope hyundai doesn't play any spoilsport now

re: 2nd-Gen Hyundai Creta @ Auto Expo 2020. Edit: Launched at 9.99 lakhs

2nd-gen Hyundai Creta India launch on March 17, 2020

The launch of the second generation Hyundai Creta has been scheduled for March 17, 2020.

2nd-Gen Hyundai Creta @ Auto Expo 2020. Edit: Launched at 9.99 lakhs-cretaindia.jpg

The second generation Creta comes with a redesigned exterior featuring a new cascade grille and a new headlamp setup with U-shaped LED daytime running lights. It has a dual-tone front bumper with silver insert and fog lamps on either side. At the rear, the SUV gets trapezoidal tail lights and the car rides on 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

On the inside, the India-spec Creta will get a more conventional dashboard layout with a 4-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a touchscreen infotainment head-unit. The car is likely to get ventilated front seats and an electronic parking brake.

In India, the Creta is expected to get similar engine and transmission options as the Kia Seltos.

I dont know yet if I like the design or hate it. However, what's got me interested is that these pics, the sketches released earlier and the car displayed at auto expo seem to suggest that new Creta might have a tad wider cabin than the outgoing one and the Seltos; or maybe its the just the pics and video angles that suggests the same. March 17th will tell whats what. On a side note, I checked ix25 dimensions and they are lesser than the Seltos on every front.

They haven't posted the figures for the diesel automatic. Can we expect marginally better FE than the Seltos?

The news reads that

"On the inside, the India-spec Creta will get a more conventional dashboard layout with a 4-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a touchscreen infotainment head-unit."

That is very true. I attended the recent auto expo and even though the new creta wasn't opened for public and had black tints I could make out the interior layout and found them to be very much like the current gen creta (old post 17th march). I find the interior design of seltos to be way better. I really liked the looks of the car. Was more SUVish than the current gen.

The all-new 2020 Hyundai Creta is built with 74% Advanced High Strength Steel.

Hopefully it should be a pretty safe car.
