Re: 2nd-Gen Hyundai Creta @ Auto Expo 2020. Edit: Launched at 9.99 lakhs

Hyundai has gone from very plain-jane designs to very stylish and appealing fluidic designs and now to quirky and very weird designs. All these new cars Aura, Creta (with the exception of the nios and to some extent the next gen Elantra) are ugly and hideous. These designs lack the coherence & continuity that we expect from a global company, these look as if individual elements have been stuck together to satisfy the spec war ( read - LED lights check, xyz fancy feature check) without giving two hoot to how they would look together!

However, I am pretty sure that Hyundai being the no.2 manufacturer in the country will get away with these designs, Infact, these will sell in good numbers. Any other manufacturer other than MS would have seen absolute blood-bath in the sales figures.
Some fellow members have pointed out that it doesn't look too bad when seen multiple times. Well, our mind gets habitual and comfortable on seeing anything multiple times no matter how hideous it is and on the contrary starts feeling it as normal. But it won't change the fact that the new creta is really ugly!

What happened to Hyundai's design team? From the absolutely smashing looking fluidic Verna and Elantra to this ugly duckling!

In the Autocar review, I loved the way Renuka comment on the brakes. There's a small pause and a sigh of relief when she comments on the improved brakes. I hope it's true .

Re: 2nd-Gen Hyundai Creta @ Auto Expo 2020. Edit: Launched at 9.99 lakhs

For buyers on a budget, the diesel E Variant seems very well equipped - it has all the basic safety features like airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors etc. Unlike the Seltos, the upholstery does not seem to be of cheaper looking material on lower variants - it looks like E, EX, and S all have the same fabric upholstery and dual tone colors. The E Variant even gits projector headlamps, remote central locking and fancy looking fold-able key-fob. For an additional 1.5 lakhs more for the Diesel EX version, all you get additional is the touchscreen music system, sun-glass holder and a shark-fin antenna. Also, unlike the Seltos, the Base variant of the Creta seems to be available in all main colors including the nice blue.

The only glaring miss is the infotainment system. From the Youtube review of the base E variant, it looks like slots for speakers are provided on the doors, but no speakers are there. One should be able to install a really good after-market music system with Android Auto and Apple Car play for around 50-60K, so for around 12 lakhs on-road, you get a really neat modern BSVI Diesel SUV with all basic features and a good music system. Seems tempting!

Re: 2nd-Gen Hyundai Creta @ Auto Expo 2020. Edit: Launched at 9.99 lakhs

A shame that the EX version gets a touchscreen infotainment system but not reverse camera which the Seltos gets from HTK model.

I'm hearing conflicted news that Hyundai would not permit installation of an aftermarket camera nor would it offer one itself. Is it true? Has anyone here managed to install a reverse camera with the blessings of Hyundai India?

Edit: Another advantage the Creta has is the turn signal integrated RVM are standard from base variant. This combined with the full color palette option save for the one from OD review(I think its limited to SX-O?) makes for a compelling case over the Seltos who's HTE version gets the eyesore of a turn signal on front fender.

Re: 2nd-Gen Hyundai Creta @ Auto Expo 2020. Edit: Launched at 9.99 lakhs

They surely have to allow the installation of a music system since Hyundai themselves have provided speaker pods on the doors. I hope speaker pods are pre-wired, in which case it will be a plug and play. And, once you install any modern infotainment system, they mostly come with a wireless back-up camera, so Hyundai cannot object to that, there is no heavy wiring to be done.

I wonder if companies have started selling music systems made for the 2020 Creta that takes advantage of the huge space available for a 10.5 inch touch-screen, larger than typical 2-Din systems.

Re: 2nd-Gen Hyundai Creta @ Auto Expo 2020. Edit: Launched at 9.99 lakhs

I've heard from Seltos HTE owners (Karol Bagh visitors) who went to install system with tweeters that the pods on the door panels are dummies that cannot be removed.
They were all suggesting viewers to pick the HTK which has proper pods.

Could it be a similar case with the E?

Also about the camera, I was referring to the EX Creta that has a touchscreen 8" but no camera. Considering its the same system as the Seltos HTK models which has a camera, do you think the same camera could be fitted onto the Creta EX's display?

Re: 2nd-Gen Hyundai Creta @ Auto Expo 2020. Edit: Launched at 9.99 lakhs

Hello everyone,

This my first post in this forum as my membership has been approved today after about four years and numerous attempts.

I own the first gen pre facelift model Creta (SX+ Petrol Manual) and I have to say that Hyundai has strayed far too much from the initial offend none designs. Creta was the last car considered for the purchase when we were researching for a new car mostly because of the cost benefit analysis and VFM factor. But one test drive with my wife and we pretty much didn't even consider anything else. (More on that later when I write an ownership review).

For me the facelift increased the VFM quotient of the car since a lot of features were added and they gave the petrol SX(O) but I personally felt the old front grill was better.

This new iteration doesn't bode well with the Creta spirit as the front is radical and rear too busy for me. The interior on the other hand looks great but for the ACC controls; I like the older one. Well, in these hard times it is difficult to predict about the sales numbers especially when economy is taking a turn for the worse but Hyundai will always have loyalists and customers just like MSIL.

Once this lock down is over I might go for a test drive just to see how the turbo petrol is and while I'm at it I might also try that Seltos too.

Have deliveries begun? Saw a maroon Creta few hours back at my work place. On seeing it for the first time in person, I didn't find anything exciting on the exterior (might look interesting at night). It didn't give that wow factor when compared to the Seltos that will definitely make you look at twice.

So for me, the exterior is definitely a let down.

If Seltos comes out with a sunroof version, that will take any nominal advantage the Creta has. Adding paddle shifts will be the other sweetener.

Agree with you, the design is absolutely ugly and garish. Ironic because I personally find the lines of the Seltos really classy and clean.

Re: 2nd-Gen Hyundai Creta @ Auto Expo 2020. Edit: Launched at 9.99 lakhs

The only reason the Creta will sell is that panoramic sunroof. It is it’s single biggest USP and will drive sales compared to Seltos. Makes the rear seats seem far more airy and spacious. I found the Seltos rear bench feeling rather tight and cramped, being used to the spacious City and Hexa. The big sunroof will solve this issue. Otherwise, Seltos is as good as Creta and far better to look at. Creta is right up there with the KUV100 as the ugliest car on the market.

Re: 2nd-Gen Hyundai Creta @ Auto Expo 2020. Edit: Launched at 9.99 lakhs

I think the Creta and Seltos will reign supreme until the competition from VW/Skoda come along next year. I think COVID has been a blessing for the late movers to the mid-size SUV segment. It has slowed down Hyundai/Kia and given a little less of a disadvantage for competitors who are bringing their offerings late to the table. Leaving aside Harrier/Hector, which are a segment above (mid-large SUVs) in my mind, there really is no competition to the Seltos and Creta. None of the top 10 Auto companies - Maruti, Tata, M&M, Toyota. Renault-Nissan, VW/Skoda, FCA & Honda to name a few - have a competitive offering -leaving the field wide open to Hyundai/Kia. This is why the Creta and Seltos are so over-priced.

The next credible competitors will be the T-Cross & Kamiq twins. Built on an extended wheelbase, with impeccable VW group styling, high level of localization and a small Turbo-Petrol engine to deliver a fine cost-to-power balance, I think these vehicles have a great opportunity to take the Creta and Seltos head-on.

The Creta's rear seat under thigh support felt better than the Creta's. That coupled with Hyundai's 5 year/50k kms standard warranty will save some dough for the cash strapped folks who may not want to splurge more money post Covid timeline.

I completely agree with this! No competition for such a long time is no good for consumers.
