Re: Force Motors @ Auto Expo 2020

Force should launch Gurkha 5 Door with 114hp 2.6, which would be a great base for an overlanding adventure build if priced right. Thar won't have a 5 door version, and if Jimny gets the 5 door variant for India, it would be still a size down compared to Gurkha and would only have a paltry 1.5 Petrol/Diesel (if at all it's updated to BS6)

If they have really improved the body and platform, we can expect a better handler with more rigidity and also less rattles.
Also, as the 2.6 is shared with almost all vehicles from Force Stable (incl. Vans & Buses), reliability shouldn't be a problem. Of course, it will be less powerful (P/W, T/W wise), but when the same engine can pull 15 seater T1N Van and with G35 Gearbox even 52 seater bus, it must be versatile enough.

Interiors are definitely a let down, but won't a dashboard and door panel leather wrap make things interesting?

That said, in the 3 door guise, New Thar will crush the Gurkha if prices are comparable, as Thar will be feature rich and got a decent interior (from spy pics) and will have powerful engines.

You are welcome Sir!

It might be having leaf springs right? So there won't be a trackbar mostly? Let me know your setup.

I had just driven once the THAR (the only SUV I have driven!), an old one like the one in your AVATAR pic. It was a very different experience! The long throw of the gear selector, no power steering and the tricky surface I was driving on took the experience of driving a four wheeler to next level. Good to know that you own one!
