Re: The Skoda Rapid 1.0L TSI Petrol, now launched at Rs 7.49 lakhs

So, this is the big development Zac was referring to - the launch of Rider Plus. More colors and the touchscreen system. Not sure if the Rider will also be sold along with this?

So 50K for the added ICE. Not a better deal than Rider@7.49, but not a deal breaker either, IMHO.

Finally. Don't think Rider and Rider Plus would be sold at the same time however. Classic case of price elasticity being done here - by the time they get to releasing the TC AT in September, they'd have found an anchor to offer that as well.

Re: The Skoda Rapid 1.0L TSI Petrol, now launched at Rs 7.49 lakhs

So what do we get for Rs 50k?

1. HU from the Ambition
2. More colours
3. A trunk lip spoiler

What remains to be seen is that, if we would get the following:

1. Proper MID
2. Power window controls

Would be a little disappointed, if the above are given a miss.

It is apparent that there are no alloys, no fog lamps.

Apparently there will be the touchscreen HU from the Ambition, along with more colour options.

No fog lights, no alloys.

50k for this?
Definitely not the best offer, compared to the Rider at 50K dearer price. But then again, they have smartly shut-down orders for Rider. So,

a. they wanted to increase price given they knew enough demand was there

b. they also heard customer feedback on getting some more upgrades - smartly used the ICE as a stop-gap

Don't think it is worth 50K, but suddenly if Rider is no longer an option, Rider plus is what people have to go for.

Would love to see these but dont think these will come. It will effectively kill the Ambition and Onyx variants if you get all the essential features for 7.99 no?

Nevertheless, glad to see the 'good' RCD system in Rider. Rather than spending 20-25k and sourcing a Chinese after market unit from a local shop, paying 50k for a nice RCD system, which looks good too, is a for me.

Would be too trivial to mention in product flyers. I'm guessing they have taken the feedback seriously.

Why don't you ask Zac on Twitter? Seems he's pretty active and does respond to genuine queries.

Additional colors are welcome! I'm glad they gave the RCD unit and not that crappy aftermarket unit.

Re: The Skoda Rapid 1.0L TSI Petrol, now launched at Rs 7.49 lakhs

If they start offering 20-25K discount in few months, rider plus is as good as rider. RCD is a good Headunit. Only thing I would ask additionally is the master switch for all 4 power windows.

Re: The Skoda Rapid 1.0L TSI Petrol, now launched at Rs 7.49 lakhs

If the RCD unit in the Rider plus would have come with steering mounted controls as well,Rider plus would have been my choice over Rider for sure. For additional 50k, I would have got a nice looking cabin, a nice HU - RCD, an upmarket steering feel with steering mounted controls, and some cosmetic changes on the outside to top it all. I think it would have been worth the amount.

The brochure details clear the air. Just the RCD unit, 2 new colours, some cosmetic changes on garnish - 50K more. Given Polo HL Plus prices have been reduced, more customers will tend towards Polo HL Plus?

Skoda managed to get 30% more customers for the Rapid, during a time when people were shying away from purchases - purely due to the fantastic pricing + engine combo of the Rider.

Now at 8L ex-showroom, the Ciaz Sigma is literally thousands away offering many buyers a more practical option. The value proposition of the Rider trim has definitely diminished.

In the earlier post it mentions the head unit has Android auto and Apple car play which means it's the rcd340 most likely

Re: The Skoda Rapid 1.0L TSI Petrol, now launched at Rs 7.49 lakhs

https://auto.hindustantimes.com/auto...793296449.html

To quote the above:

"Dominant black and silver design elements highlighted by the black facade of the signature grille up front. The variant gets decorative side foils, glossy black decor on the B pillars, trunk lip garnish and new window chrome garnish.

On the inside, Rapid Raider Plus variant gets a new dual-tone ebony sand colour theme with ivory slate upholstery. There is also a stainless steel scuff plate with 'Rapid' inscription.
The 6.5 inch infotainment unit is equipped with SmartLink technology and supports navigation and is compatible with MirrorLink, Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The car also gets Climatronic technology with filter to keep dust and polled out. Some of the other highlights in the cabin are adjustable dual rear AC vents, 12 V power socket in front and rear centre console, height and length adjustable multifunction steering wheel, adjustable headrests, foldable armrests, central locking system with remote control and multi-functional display."

So, a MID is available after all.
