I can understand that Mahindra has prioritized passenger space, but the boot space is woefully less at just 257 litres - even hatchbacks a segment lower have better boot space. For purely city use, for a family of four, it serves the purpose. But for airport runs and outstation trips for a family of four with luggage, one will end up keeping some luggage in passenger area.
Check WRV/Jazz at 2555mm wheelbase leg room is amazing even with the front seats all the way back and boot space too which is 363 litres.

Increase boot space and give a good automatic. Bring back all discontinued safety features and add all the bling that XUV700 has and this will be the segment leader.

re: Mahindra unveils 130 BHP XUV300 TurboSport. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 10.35 lakh

The only reason I hate this car is that ugly side profile. The rear looks like it has been sliced clean by a knife. The front looks sleek and aggressive and the rear looks bad. Apart from that, this car is nearly perfact. 5 star rated, powerful petrol and diesel engines, very good set of features.

Ofcourse some people may like the design, to each his own, but i certainly don't.

Mahindra doesn't have a compact SUV to rival the Creta, why not launch the Tivoli in its original size and sell it as the XUV 3OO plus or maybe some other new name?

I personally feel this is some mediocre effort for a facelift. The car though has aged gracefully in terms of looks, needed some fresh air to the looks.

The car is still clocking some good sales numbers, and is within the top 30 in India.

Pray they give it a Torque converter from Aisin, especially in the diesel.

Though most probably this would be some minor nip and tuck here and there, with the new logo. Some variant juggling. And the 130bhp tune in the petrol.

Apart from the obvious requirements (improved boot space and a proper autobox), this car needs infotainment and audio upgrades. As a W8 diesel MT owner, I can tell you that while the screen is just adequate the sound system is appalling. The sound quality is flat, the lows are almost non-existent and the mids are less than impressive. Now that the Brezza comes with Arkamys tuning, the 300 easily has the worst setup.

Funny how Mahindra folks thought hiding the badge will hide the make /model, during the test runs.

Is that chrome-loaded lower grille the same ? Spoils the look of the car.

Dear M&M
Give this car a proper auto box and take my money on the launch day itself.

Probably Mahindra's facelift designers are inspired by 70's movies where just a fake mole on cheek was enough makeover to disguise.

As per my knowledge, the major work has been done on powertrains to meet the CAFE norms. We can expect a better torque delivery and good mileage improvements. The 1.2TGDI (G12) engine is silent, responsive and hoot to drive - sometimes called as baby of G20 (2L M Stallion) in our circle.

Mahindra might have thought to add few bits to the XUV3oo to qualify it calling a facelift. I can see Tata Nexon inspired curves inside the headlamps, new logo, tweaked front grill, newer powertrains/calibrations. interior changes? A big question. Hope for a big surprise on torque converter.

re: Mahindra unveils 130 BHP XUV300 TurboSport. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 10.35 lakh

XUV 300 was always the underdog in the compact SUV segment.
It is a well sorted out car with good driveability, adequate cabin space, very supportive seats and nicely sorted out handling.
The drawbacks of the petrol engine are a slightly spiky power delivery where power flow seems to come in a series of small "steps" rather than in one smooth linear flow. Better fuelling alongwith ECU and throttle pedal calibrations should solve these issues.

Dealer sales staff are also not very keen to push XUV 300 sales. Maybe because they have already met their sales targets by sitting on a heap of orders of the XUV 300's elder siblings.

I think Mahindra wants the Automatic buyer to stretch their budget above the XUV 300. No other reason this shouldn't be competing with the Sonet / Venue AT. If the seat is foldable, that should deal with the occasional airport run.

The three design elements that were pulling the XUV300 down
1) The old asymmetrical Mahindra logo
2) The stupid "tear drop" like DRL between the head lamp and foglamp.
3) The real ugly 'eagle head' tail lamp design (Renault nailed the same design perfectly in the Triber)

Now the asymmetrical logo has been addressed. And the eagle head' tail lamp too looks a little better in the spy images. If only they had removed the "tear drop" DRL...

My crude attempt to do the same.

The AMT gearbox is also a major disadvantage of the XUV300.Yesterday I went to test drive the 1.2 petrol with the AMT gearbox and the shifts are noticeably slow and jerky . Also the quality and the layout of the interior are not in par with its competitors.
