The last row could be the best in its segment!

Only feature I was secretly wishing was an AWD drive train.

The Kia Carens is expected to see its official market launch and price announcement before the end of the current financial year, which means it will be around February or March next year.

Looks good for a MUV. I think Kia will position it between Ertiga and Innova, more towards Innova for sure. Not sure about interiors from the images above, need to get real world photos.

The 1.4 turbo-IMT looks like a really interesting option ! Those who want petrol, power but are wary of DCT will surely go for this. And considering that most "touted" safety features like ESP, 6 airbags are standard, even base models will be hopefully competitive.
If anything, it will make its own siblings, cousins and the other competing cars look a bit funny. Hopefully this issue of making multiple airbags and ESP as standard will be remedied by other manufacturers soon to preserve their "real justification of value".

I wonder what percentage of Honda BRV critics will end up praising this mpv that's also styled to look like suv. Sure, this one has more modern looking interiors but from what I see it'll also cost a lot more than the discontinued BRV.

Unsurprisingly reworked (exterior) Alcazar with all Kia's flavor.
Pricing is the key here. Definitely an alternative and number breaker to Ertiga.
Not even close to Crysta - I don't know why people compare this to Innova.

I am sure the "Feature List" will be the USP/Selling point.
Kia's safety is in the doldrums again with this poor structural rigidity, build quality.

Definitely a winner (Carens-Alcazar duo) on hands for Kia (and Hyundai combo) for India's mass-market buyers.

Any word on the 3rd row comfort? From the image, it looks line legroom is healthy, but like it's competition, the seats are low.

So basically an Alcazar with a bit different feature and powertrain options. But interesting to see the longer wheelbase on the Carens. Its even longer than others in the segment.

Good to see large number of standard safety features , hopefully it is backed a safe body structure to actually make a difference unlike the Seltos.

The Alcazar’s 2L NA Petrol is just about adequate for it’s size. I wonder what the 1.5L NA Petrol will feel like in the Kia Carens!

1) Liked sketches more than actual product - Maybe its the curvy headlight (amongst sharp straight lines) & its low placement, or maybe because of way too small wheel size. 18' alloys, like ones offered on Alcazar would do justice to design.

2) The dash with Windows97 logo type design print may not age well and looks a bit cheap to me.

3) 6 airbags are good as standard. Safest car of India?! Ok! Kia shall we take this car to NCAP? Kia trying its best to solve for poor image in safety front by offering tech BUT no mention about structure and how it is better than Seltos, etc.

4) No mention about - ADAS, panoramic sunroof, GT variant?

5) For this sized car, will 1.4L Petrol engine be sufficient? Seems to be in Hector's boat now - oversized car and adequate engine. Not for enthusiasts.

Not that exciting product in the end. All I can wish for is a safer Seltos in 2022, if at all possible! After yet another meh! event, what's launching next?

Lets relax all. This car has not been tested yet. Some of the more "touted" cars on the safety front havent been tested either. There is no regulation in this world that says that only 4/5 star rated cars are street-legal, in fact NCAP is not even a regulatory body. On the other hand, this car (and Yaris earlier) has made strides in at least improving the standard list of safety equipment and setting a new benchmark in that area. So lets give credit where its due instead of being in a utopian state. Otherwise create a campaign to make 5-star GNCAP rating with front, side and rollover tests as the minimum safety standard. I will bet this wont happen in our country or any other country.

Good thing is the Carens comes with a Diesel AT, tough competition for Ertiga and the XL6.
