i will go for german cars since they have a celebrated automotive culture & they seem to be the most passionate about their cars.

German If I had to drive one and could afford it
Japanese If I wanted best of all worlds at an affordable price
Korean for that VFM and low initial, running and spare costs
American If I had to hire a stylish car for that long weekend drive
French If I was living in france and had no other choice

Not for me. I still think that the Peugot and Citreon are the most beautiful hatchbacks/sedans in the world.

Given the criteria laid out, this is a straight shoot-out between the Japanese and the Koreans (Hyundai). I vote for Hyundai, given my own favourable experience. I am truly impressed with the ruggedness, reliability and maneuverability of even my old-generation Santro. Plus fuel economy and cost of spares are OK too. I think it is only a question of time before Hyundai gets ahead of the Japs and everybody else under Indian conditions -- especially if the 75 BHP diesel Santro hits the market in 2007 as planned.
