The spy images suggest that both cars get new dual-tone alloy wheels. The media report also suggests that Ford is no longer offering its Sync3 infotainment system in the Aspire.

Both the Figo and Aspire are expected to be offered with BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines. These include the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol that makes 95 BHP and 120 Nm and 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit that produces 99 BHP and 215 Nm of torque. Both engines are expected to be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Has great potential to be cabbies darling after Toyota pulled plug on Etios. Those alloys looks sweet! Something wrong with article. Diesel with 121 HP and 150NM torque? I think Diesel will come in 100PS avatar with 215NM torque. 121HP and 150NM torque is for 1.5L mill which will come to 6 speed AT.

Does this mean that Ford will launch these cars with Sync 4? Not sure if its coming to India.

Didn't notice that piece of news. That is disappointing. I'm sorry, but I dont understand. Sync 3 is easily the best infotainment system in India barring luxury car UIs ( actually beats some of them too ), taking it away is like taking away the cherry from the cake.

I am pretty sure Ford is not that senseless, and this news turns out to be false.

Sync 3 is almost outdated now and Ford is launching all its new vehicles with Sync 4. Sync 4 is far advanced as compared to Sync 3. Question is will it come to India?

Yes exactly, do we have confirmation that they'll do it? The aspire is packed to the brim with features. Auto wipers and what not. Don't know where they will be making profits if they implement sync 4 into the figo derivatives.

My guess is they'll moving onto the flyaudio system for the figo derivatives and keeping the sync 4 for ecosport and endeavour and any new JV vehicles.

Are they replacing the 3-cylinder with the older 4 cylinder or an entirely new one? This is surprising (in a good way, of course) considering the recent trend of downsizing.
Edit: Did some digging online. I think they are sticking to the 3-cylinder Dragon as of now and I found no mention of a 4-cylinder replacement.

Some observations/thoughts-

1. Rear wiper, Rear defogger, Fly Audio touchscreen, Automatic climate control, glossy gear lever top, fog lamps etc. have been omitted from the Figo Titanium. The Aspire Titanium(or is it the Titanium+) as seen in the first post, continues to have ACC and (Fly Audio) touchscreen but it has also lost the glossy gear lever. I am not very sure if the Aspire in the opening post has defogger at the rear or not. I think it is absent.

2. 15 inch alloys have been made standard on the Titanium. They look quite good IMO.

3. The Fly Audio system has been replaced by a standard 2 din system which closely resembles the unit offered by Ford in the lower variant of the Figo(KA+) in the UK. I would still call this as an improvement as the Fly Audio only had a notional value of being a touchscreen and was quite laggy. Further, there is no doubt that this new system looks much better than the pre-facelift dial-pad styled stereo which was there in Titanium and below variants. Hoping that I may be able to swap this system with the one which is there in my Figo. The hazard switch is going to be a problem though.

4. Overall, the Figo has lost quite a lot of features and it has become more and more difficult to recommend this car to people. Yes, it is a Ford and handles better than its rivals but you can't really expect people to deal with a fairly basic interior (being further stripped of features) in 2020.

5. I won't be surprised if Sync3 is actually not present in the Aspire. It would be interesting to see if they would still continue with the Sync3 in the Freestyle. Also, I won't be surprised if the Figo Blu and the Aspire Titanium+ is axed.

Not done! Touchscreens are a basic customer expectation nowadays, at least on the higher variants.

Good chance of the increased sales from the commercial sector though - if the BS6 diesel is priced as competitively as in the Ecosport!

Re: Ford Aspire BS6 spotted; Sync3 discontinued

I have a 7 month old Figo Titanium diesel. The new 2020 model except the 15 inch wheels have lost a lot of features. The Figo is already struggling in sales as it does not have features like DRLs and Projector headlamps. Only ace in its sleeve is the diesel engine which will be absent in almost all of the Marutis. But omission of touchscreen is a bad decision.

Re: Ford Aspire BS6 spotted; Sync3 discontinued

With so many items removed, it seems that they have taken the Figo a few notches down the pecking order.

I kinda feel happy that I got mine in October and didn't wait for the BS6. Removing essential features like the rear wash wipe, defogger, rear camera(no screen?), fog lamps and nice to have features like ACC and Touchscreen now means that the Titanium is now more of a mid variant (Tata's XM) than a top end minus 4 airbags(XT) that it was earlier. The least they could have done is name it reclassify it as Figo Trend and not Titanium. That will make the changes more palatable.

Hope that the Titanium+ variant still exists with all the bells and whistles they have removed or else they would have severely curtailed the Figo's mass market appeal compared to the competition. This, in its current form, is really not done.

The large touchscreen, even though laggy, is not the worst thing that happened to the pre-facelift Figo. I have extensively used both systems and the Touchscreen made the HU infinitely more usable than it was earlier. It may not be much in terms of additional features as compared to pre facelift. In fact it had lost the SYNC features when compared to the pre facelift Titanium+ variant. But for the improvement in UX, that change was worth it.

As it stands now, had I not gotten my Figo Titanium TDCI in October, this move would have effectively chucked it out of my shortlist.

The change of strategy on the Titanium seems to be coming straight out of the Mahindra playbook to make the KUV100 look better equipped than it is. This is the first time I feel sad that Ford has gone the Mahindra way. Hope better sense prevails.

Re: Ford Aspire BS6 spotted; Sync3 discontinued

As a former Figo owner, I am deeply saddened and disappointed to see the BS6 Figo with such poor equipment list. I don't know what is Ford thinking and I feel pity for the poor dealership sales personnel. It will nearly be an impossible job for them to ween away customers who are looking at cars from competitor brands. With such feature deletions, I suspect they are only looking to get rid of existing bodyshells of the Figo and not really looking at trying to make the FIgo gor as a car.

One of the reasons I bought the Figo in its Titanium+ trim in 2016 was primarily because of Sync and the great functionality it offered(especially when it came to controlling the music tracks through voice commands and the feature was a segment first!!!). Forget Sync, they even deleted ACC A/C, rear wiper, defogger. I suppose the rear adjustable headrests and electrically adjustable/foldable mirrors are gone as well.

Really disappointed with Ford with regards to what they did to the BS6 Figo & Aspire, especially if you consider the worthy and thoughtful additions to the BS4 Figo F/L last year.

I wonder what happens to the Freestyle now?

Re: Ford Aspire BS6 spotted; Sync3 discontinued

It seems Ford is targeting commercial/taxi segment to boost up sales. May be, they want to fill up the void created by the absence of BS6 compliant diesel models from major competitors.

By deleting features, they would be able to keep the price of their oil burners at lower end of the scale.

Let's see how it goes!

Re: Ford Aspire BS6 spotted; Sync3 discontinued

So apart from the Alloys and Music system, Figo Titanium and my 2018 Freestyle Ambiente looks identical - Manual AC, Plain Gear, no Defogger, no Rear Wiper

- I believe this is solely done to mask the cost of BS 6 engines. IIRC for Ecosport, they had enough bandwidth to allow a mere 13 k hike in price.

- Figo / Aspire/ Freestyle are already priced very efficiently for the features they provide. So they had no option but to knock off some features

- That said, missing out Rear auto wiper/ defogger is a bit too much !

- Hope, at least now they are a hit among the Cab segment making the wonderful 1.5 L TDCi live longer and who knows, they can one day be the National Engine of India
