Guys,

I apologize once again for the statement maybe I had a little too much to drink last night when I read about it or did I , also the price of the Rider 1.8T Ex-Mumbai on-road is 12,80,--- (List Price) it comes with the same 16” Wheels of the RS but rest of the car is bog std Rider, which to me makes no difference.

Also after you take into account the discount what one can pull off, well that depends on one’s negotiating skills, I know for a fact I’m getting a fantastic price for it and it is a no barrier for me and is a very practical buy in the category.

Hey Satyam,

Congrats on your buy!! Me, Rtech and Addy had visited the showroom last week and they told us about the Rider 1.8T. But 12.8 is awesome! I didnt expect those delicious wheels to be thrown in...that makes the package even better.

What colour? My favorite on the Octy is red (with black glasses and leather)

Man, the dealer never told us that the 16" wheels are gonna be standard on the Rider! Are you sure on that sbfx?

P.s. GTO, What'd I say about those moron's never calling back with that test drive! I guess they're smart...they let Nemmer Eins give the test drives while they just go ahead and sell!!

Hi rtech and gto,

Yes I'm sure about the wheels being the same as the RS that is what I was quoted by the sales guy and I re-confirmed it twice also the same audio system as the RS mp3 player with 8speakers! , I'm going to be getting a Red Octi .

Satyam.

I got *a Rider 1.8T brochure that says *it has 15" wheels and not 16" as on the RS. Could you recheck.

Also *- both Skoda dealers in Mumbai are not giving any dicounts on the Turbo Petrol. They only throw in Rs. 10,000 worth of accessories * . Anyone has any luck here ??

Well even I was told the Rider 1.8 would have 16 inchers by the Juhu dealer. Either the brochure is wrong or the sales guy.

BTW the 1.9 TDi Auto is just out

Okay - I saw the 1.8T Rider. It has 15" wheels.

I am confused as to whether I should pay 1.78 lakhs more for the RS which has the following *functionality over the Rider.

1.Parking Sensor - *seems usable
2. Climatronic AC - *okay
3. Xenon lamps - *costly to replace. I have heard that the RTO stops cas with 'white' lights'
4. 16' alloy wheels - they look great
5. Cruise Control - *somewhat usable
6. Front Air Dam - adds to overall look
7. SunRoof - is this worth it ? Do these trouble over time ?
8. Rear Spolier - looks good

What say guys ?

Very useful - got a set fitted on the Vtec for Rs 4000 - however the Skoda will also have on the front and well integrated - costs around Rs 10000

2. Climatronic AC - *okay

Worth it as it maintains the temp at a constant temp using snensors etc - costs around Rs 40,000

3. Xenon lamps - *costly to replace. I have heard that the RTO stops cas with 'white' lights'

Depend if you need the light - costs around Rs50000

4. 16' alloy wheels - they look great

Another 50000 from your friendly skoda dealer
5. Cruise Control - *somewhat usable

totally useless unless on a highway - another Rs 5000 as it merely works of the ECU

6. Front Air Dam - adds to overall look

Rs 10000 i presume

7. SunRoof - is this worth it ? Do these trouble over time ?

Add another Rs 30000
Great in the evening during sunset, great when getting hot air out of the car after parking in the heat - smeone can break the roof to jump in and it can leak after a while if seals are damaged

8. Rear Spolier - looks good

add another Rs 7500

Lets look at them cost by cost.

considering most of the items need to be integrated during build - looks like the additioal price is reasonable

IMO the clima- AC and Xenon lights are not worth te extra moolah.
Also the 16 " alloys cost 50000,fine, ....but what needs to be checked is the difference one needs to pay for the shift from 15 to 16.

Bottom line IMO : the 1.8 RS is not worth the extra money

Nope. I wouldnt pay the extra 2 lacs for the RS. A 1.8 rider will be much better if the additional two lacs is spent eventually...but on modifications that are more personalised and not the same as every other RS on the road.

Parking Sensor - Fine.
Climatronic Aircon - Nope. Sat in regular octavias and the air-con was a chiller any which ways.
Xenon lamps - Great. But I aint heard anyone complaining about regular Octavia headlights either.
16" alloys - Nope. I would rather have my own choice of alloys than the manufacturer deciding what my car wears.
Cruise control - Rubbish. Still havent used the one on my C Class.
Front air dam - Fine.
Sun roof - I love it.
Spoiler - Horrible. Doesnt suit the Skoda character at all.

Bottomline? I wouldnt pay the additional to the Skoda India piggy bank. Rather spend it in my own way over a phased period making my turbo exclusive....and personalised.

took the car to lonavala two days after delivery

took the picture on the way to sahara amby valley from lonavala and must say the car handled beutifully on the twists and turns

the turbocharger as i have seen and think is against the firewall to the rear of the engine bay and not aginst the front bumper ... i might be wrong as well , i would presume the intercooler to be upfront against the bumper......

will post some pictures of the engine later today

Peace !
