Toyota tastes success with Suzuki branded cars in S Africa. Expect it to consolidate its position with the MPV Rumion.

Toyota's Urban Cruiser is the best selling 'SUV' in Sept. sales:

Smart Toyota.
The highest selling vehicle in India is actually the Ertiga+XL6.. essentially the same car. If Toyota get even 50 percent of these as there's, without cannibalizm of maruti, they both win

Re: Maruti Ertiga-based Toyota MPV launch in 2021

Is the Rumion that was launched in South Africa a 6 speed AT or a 4 speed AT?
Asking since Maruti is already readying a 6 speed AT for the Brezza and the Ertiga.

Juliet McGuire drives the SA-spec Toyota Rumion.

Caution: mute at 1:56, definitely at 3:51, at 6:03 and from 6:39.

This is hilarious. For a moment I was like - Really Toyota

But well it's a business and they will sell whatever let them make money. So nothing new or wrong in it. Just it's the market that needs to be more aware.

Toyota's Ertiga-based MPV to launch this year.

Quote:
Having raised the bar with the new Innova Hycross, Toyota is now looking to tighten its grip on the more affordable end of the MPV segment. The company is working on a new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga-based MPV that is set to debut sometime around mid-2023.

Ertiga-based Toyota MPV:

Toyota’s version of the Ertiga-based MPV is understood to be codenamed the D23 and is expected to debut sometime in mid-2023. It will share the same Heartect platform as the Ertiga, and will also be powered by Maruti’s K15C petrol engine, likely in both petrol and CNG guise. It, however, will be sufficiently differentiated from the Ertiga to have its own identity.

Toyota will have one of the widest MPV range in the market straddling across petrol, diesel, CNG, mild-hybrid and strong hybrid catering to the needs of buyers from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 30 lakh price point. Do note the Innova Crysta is also set to make a comeback with a facelift this year and in diesel-only guise.

IMO, only Toyota has always realized the MPV potential and capitalized it too. Now, it has realized so well that it will have 3 MPVs soon. MPV is an important segment for a country like India. But giving the leash to only Toyota will lead to very high pricing, which will turn into a bad thing for us, the general public. I wish the other manufacturers follow suit.
