The Nissan Kicks facelift has been spied in Thailand. The SUV is likely to be unveiled in March 2020.



The spy images suggest that the new Kicks could get an updated front fascia. The grille appears to be larger and has horizontal slats. The SUV also appears to have wraparound LED headlights. The test car is equipped with roof rails and a shark fin antenna.



At present, the Nissan Kicks is available with two engine options - a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 105 BHP and 142 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel unit putting out 108 BHP and 240 Nm. The petrol engine comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the diesel engine comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox.



There is no word yet on whether Nissan will offer the updated Kicks in India.

It will make it more appealing and contemporary.

Looks to be one massive toothy grille. Hopefully not going to be finished in full chrome!

That said - Nissan needs a lot more than a facelift in India. With its current market positioning and the lack of a diesel engine option - sales will not mostly recover. Nissan didn't seem very eager to confirm the future of the Kicks, during their Auto Expo interviews either!

You're right. It was their partner-in-crime, Renault, who was present at the Expo. And it is the Captur, which they were reluctant to confirm despite being asked a direct question in an ACI interview. Their future strategy seems to be concentrated on higher volume products like the Kwid, Triber and the upcoming compact SUV.

That said, Kicks may not have a very different future - given the same platform origins, cold reception from the market and the absence of their main engine, the K9K, from the lineup.

The Nissan Kicks facelift has been spied undisguised. The SUV is believed to have been spotted somewhere in Thailand.



The spy images suggest that the Kicks will get a new chrome grille with slim wraparound headlights on either side and a new dual-tone front bumper. The SUV has black plastic cladding around the wheel arches and along the door sills. It has black ORVMs and blacked-out A and B-pillars. The car also has new 5-spoke alloy wheels, chrome door handles and roof rails.



The new Nissan Kicks is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor. The petrol engine charges the 1.5 kWh battery pack, which in turn drives the electric motor.

Nissan is rumoured to introduce the new Kicks in India later this year.

The Nissan KICKS e-Power (Minorchange) preparing to be released to the public.

It is expected that this May is the first place in the world. Prior to launching in Japan this June, the first e-Power technology introduced in the Nissan Kicks and also the unveiling of the first Minorchange model in the world in Thailand.

Nissan Kicks - Front and Rear unmasked: (Thailand)

The V-motion grille design on the front has also been enlarged, the front headlights and LED daytime running lights are also integrated in the same housing.

The rear design looks similar to the current "X-Trail has the "e-POWER" badge is attached to the lower right part of the rear tailgate.
On the other hand, the "KICKS" badge is also attached to the left side.

It has been officially revealed that the electric parking brake and automatic brake hold are standard equipment on all models

Not that the Kicks looked bad in its first iteration. This facelift brings a bit of snazziness to the whole car, may be giving it more appeal. As a product, the Kicks is quite sorted, but there are some quirks like the high seating position same as the Duster, a bit of dated parts here and there etc. So, it should not be positioned as an alternative to the Seltos or the New Creta, rather Nissan should keep the variants simple, get it close to the sub 4m SUVs, and thats how customers may even consider this car. Else Nissan would end up taking a sword to a gunfight!

However the fundamental reason for the Kicks not selling was the brand credibility of Nissan taking a nose dive over the years. Nissan has to do something different, may be engage a brand ambassador, just to get a connect back to the people, obviously all this after the COVID crisis eases.

On the outside, the new Kicks gets a redesigned chrome grille with slim wraparound headlights on either side and a new dual-tone front bumper. The tail lights house V-shaped LEDs. The SUV has black plastic cladding around the wheel arches and along the door sills. It has black ORVMs and blacked-out A and B-pillars. The car also has new 5-spoke alloy wheels, chrome door handles and roof rails.



On the inside, the new Kicks will be offered with a 3-spoke, multi-function steering wheel. The instrument cluster houses an analogue dial. One of the images shows the centre console with the gear lever. It has blue highlights around the gear knob. A blue engine start / stop button can also be seen in the image.

Is this coming to India? Price it squarely against the Hector and Harriers and the Hybrid model may see some good demand! I sure won't mind a 20L OTR hybrid.
