Skoda, but with RS badge. Didn't vote as it is not listed here. Good cars like Cedia is also missed.

My vote for the Octavia 1.9 TDi. Caters to the requirements given in the original first post. Here's why:
  1. Sufficient power for both city and highway (although not a racer!).
  2. Sufficient space for 2 kids at the back. Actually even 2 adults as long as they are not 6 feet plus.
  3. Not much longer than most C-segment sedans.
  4. Very good fuel economy (even if prices of petrol and diesel were to be the same, the TDi has better economy).
  5. Good build quality.
  6. Pricing and VFM.
  7. Perhaps still one of the best-looking cars in India. Has spot-on proportioning and good detailing. Never liked Japanese-Korean aesthetics anyways.
Service is an issue but then you don't get everything!

I voted for Skoda 1.9 from the list. And I second what ever architect said.

To add on...
8. Dollops of Torque
9. Boot Bed

CR-V. If I were to keep just one car, then it would be this. Good handling for UV, power, and moreover, better ground clearence than a sedan. And better for crossing the mini seas that come up on our roads.

Just an observation, nearly 70% of the votes have been taken up by just 3 cars, out of which two are Hondas and one is a Skoda. Says quite a few things about the Indian Automotive scene and its perception with people. (however, one may argue that the contestants of the poll itself are debatable)

Well i would go with the City because i have one but the Accord is sure to me my next car if i can afford it. Well Civic could also be a good trade off.

I've voted for the Octy. I would prefer the RS version. Simply great. However if I had to put down my hard earned money and buy a car today, I would pick the Chevrolet SR-V. Large interiors and IMO the best looks of any sub 15 lakh car.

Octavia RS Combi if it has to be just one single car for all the purposes, and because of its whacked out pricing, its pretty exclusive too!

I have voted in favour of Skoda Octavia and the reasons have already been stated by architect and ironwolf.

Out of these I would have a headache between the Accord and the CRV..but in the end I guess it would be the Accord..which I would then further modify!!
