Hehe,my post was moved from the suggestions thread to this one .. i just asked because iirc the mods started the COTY thread last year.

Anyway as rehaan said,better to have it in december when we have better cars.

We'll also need to lay the basic ground rules for the same, as in the people should have some experience with the car they vote for, such as a Test drive, or ownership, and so on.

How about Team-Bhpian most improved car of the year award? So many people maintain their cars with love and passion and keep on modifying them.

We can have - Best interiors, Best Audio, Best engine mod,
blah blah of course with some parity brought among various segments

Being the lndia's leading auto community forum why don't we select T-BHP Car of the Year. This forum is convergence of best minds in every facet of an automobile. I know it may be very subjective but I think with some baseline criteria we can pick a winner! The mods and experts can propose some selection rules.

- The obvious one, the car should be a complete new design and lauched in that year.

This criteria will putforth the cars on the stage. Based on the Owners objective feedbacks on these cars we can arrive at a winner!

Of course, this exercise is for pure fun and food for thought for auto lovers!!

What will we do with cars that are getting launched after the selection? Just 6 months are over for this year and Ideal selection should happen at December 2008. I always wondered How come i10 is selected in Jan 2008 as "Car of year 2008"

Its usually done in the beginning of the year for the cars introduced in the previous year

For example : If its Car of the Year 2009, It will be a car which has been introduced in 2008 example Swift Dzire

I think we should have some categories listed and based on that we should be able to compare the cars, we cannot compare a Fiat Palio with Honda Accord, guys do you agree or am I stupid since this was already taken care of?

I suggest that we should have a committee (limited participants) who shall define the evaluation criteria for each category, and only they will rate each nominated product rather that posting a poll and asking everyone to vote....otherwise you will end up giving awards to Maruti and Hyundai every year as their customer base is bigger as compare to any other manufacturer.

We must have one, but it should have limited participants and this be chosen as the TBHP COTY. Then have a poll on the users choice of COTY.
This car should be termed as COTY-Views.

Ummm...there will be many contenders and the judges will be Moderators (I presume). But we also can have the award for Nice ICE set etc. But its a good thought though.
