Rumours suggests that lot of feature additions and differentiations from the 5 seater, but no idea on what all would be offered.
Welcome change is that redesigned rear end, looks better than normal Creta. If lower variants are priced close to the top variants of XL6, then Hyundai can skip on another MPV project.
Hyundai may not be interested in the cab volume, but this product has immense potential especially with that efficient diesel engine.

re: 7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs

Something doesn’t seem right about this design - it’s not ugly!

I love the clean look of the rear, and I am glad that they didn’t do something like this —

I agree with all of VKumar’s points. Like the Harrier and Safari duo, if they price this by ₹1-2 lakh more compared to the regular Creta, it will sell like hot cakes and eat up the Creta’s sales like he said.

Now that I think of it, I believe Hyundai has an amazing trick up their sleeve. They intentionally designed the Creta so ugly and the Alcazar so balanced, that people would pay a premium simply for the design!

However, the Alcazar’s rear gives me more Endeavour vibes, especially how the oval logo is placed above the tailgate chrome bit. From the limited view of the front, I reckon this one’s front doesn’t look as ugly as the Creta’s either.

I see pretty good boot space, atleast from the sketches. Way better than what Tata managed. Hope the sketches turn out to be true in this aspect.

Last row seats are mostly for occasional use. Example use case : Grand parents are visiting and the kids can shift to the last row .

re: 7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs

The rear looks better than the Creta but looks like some 'inspiration' has been taken from the mighty Endy.

From the sketches, it looks like a well-done 5+2 job, hope the actual production version will carry over the same.

Keeping these factors aside, if ever I'm shopping in the INR 18-25 Lakh SUV segment, I will be picking up a Harrier/Safari only irrespective of the features that Hyundai will be throwing in Alcazar.

If this comes with a tonneau cover, it could be a better version of the Creta: one with a proper sized boot. Should make a good vehicle for touring with the rear seats folded flat.

I seriously doubt if I would like anyone to sit in the last row, however. As is typical of vehicles smaller than the Carnival, the rear crumple zone is too short for comfort (at least, for me).

I tried to render my best guess at what Alacazar's front end could look like, going purely by the limited knowledge of what is visible in the design sketches

Design Sketch for reference below. Colour added for emphasis.

re: 7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs

As everyone has said here, the rear tail lights have been executed a lot better in the Alcazar than the Creta.

Am shopping in this segment of 6/7 seaters and we had shortlisted the Hector Plus. But then we thought we will wait for this and the new XUV 500 before going ahead with the purchase. Safari is a good 4 lakh expensive compared to the Hector Plus so that ruled it out.

The only fly in Hyundai's appointment as of this time would be the engine. If they are using the same engines as the Creta's, I will take it off my list because for a 5 seater, I found the existing engines just about adequate.

Alcatraz - power to weight ratio

Re- the power-to-weight ratio concerns of the soon-to-be-launched Alcazar:

Given that the new Tucson is not listed to be assembled in India, it would appear that the present face-lifted Tucson will continue to be assembled here till the manufacturing abroad stops and shifts to the new version. At that point its not certain whether the Tucson will be discontinued in India.

In which case, are there any chances of the Alcazar taking over the flagship mantle? There is that smooth 400 nm torque R 2.0 litre CRDi Diesel(D4HA) engine that powers the Tucson - I wonder whether Hyundai will offer it as a higher end option in the Alcazar?

re: 7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs

Looks like a mix of the Creta(front design), the Hector(side profile) and the Endeavour/Hexa(rear profile). This is going to be another success story for Hyundai.

Makes me believe in the power of marketing. Of course, creta has its own super strengths. Being an SUV is not one of those.
In some months we`ll get to know how the market will react to these SUVs.

Coming to marketing, I don't think they told you that new Safari \ Harrier is based on an old LR platform derived from a Ford Mondeo.

If you understand that an SUV is something related to its shape, it all starts to make sense.

Stressful days ahead for hector plus, safari and to some extent the innova too. Hyundai is making sure they have a product in every segment.

re: 7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs

I was happy seeing the rear design of Alcazar last day, but the front end has happily carried Hyundai's "Legacy" of ugly designs.

The chrome impressions on the front grill look heavily inspired from its bigger sedan brother Azera / Grandeur

re: 7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs

I agree with many of the above comments. The Alcazar looks much better than the Creta from side profile and from the rear. The front still looks as ugly as it used to earlier. But still it is a much better value proposition for the market and I see a direct competitor for Ertiga / XL6.
