Hyundai is all set to launch the Alcazar in June 2021 and has shipped 1,360 units last month. It has already overtaken the dispatch volumes of Hector, Compass, and XUV500 even before its launch!

I spoke with the local Hyundai dealer. Apparently these are test vehicles, They are expecting a 7 seater manual and a 6 seater automatic

As the launch is getting closer, lot of information coming out. Does look promising for those looking for a compact 6 seater(Not Marazzo/Innova) and have more budget than the Ertiga/XL6. Interesting to see how this compares against the TATA safari and the upcoming XUV700 as it will definitely be overlapping in terms of pricing but is one size smaller.

The rear definitely looks inspired from Ford Endeavour which is not bad at all !!

My only issue with the Hyundai is the cars do not age well (visually) as their design language overhauls every couple of years. This is different from the Japs(5-6 years) and Germans who keep it same for decades.

One of my friend working in HYUNDAI told me that they had intentionally used the 1.5L Diesel mill because Engines up to 1.5L do not require Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions control system. They are going to use Lean NOx Trap (LNT) system same as CRETA because it’s a cost-effective solution and is much cheaper than SCR. Using 2.0L Diesel Engine with DEF will raise the overall price of the vehicle by a significant amount.
But IMHO ALCAZAR needs at least 2.0L Diesel Unit. Moreover everywhere they are highlighting the Petrol Engine only Even on Youtube and other websites too. No one looks interested in Diesel Engines anymore.

Is that digital instrument cluster part of the package? Have seen it in the international Tucson, Elantra and Santa-Fe. Looks really cool when it changes with the different driving modes. Also since the Alcazar is getting the 360 deg camera, I expect Hyundai to have incorporated blind spot cameras like the Seltos has.

Looks beautiful and seems to be a fantastic proposition. The wheels look Chinese but interiors are next level. Being a Hyundai it will get a huge list of great features.

So the critical question now, is this finally the Innova's destroyer?

The grille looks horrendous. However, the car looks good from other angles and the interiors look premium. Curious to see the pricing and drivetrain options.

If Hyundai does not goof up spectacularly, this will be another top seller for them.

With those engine options, not much of a chance. And like it or not, Innova has a pretty decent level of comfort unmatched so far by SUVs. Only Marazzo manages to package the last row slightly better and offer a really plush ride. It is going to be extremely hard to come anywhere close to the Innova (incl. taxi market here) for an SUV IMO.

And what is the obsession with destroying the Innova?

Finally, Hyundai has another winner in its hands! I guess the comfort and space in this car will be as good as the Innova!

Since we are looking for a new car as the replacement for our 2011 Innova, this seems to be a good bet and will be put into the consideration list only after we TD the Alcazar!

And, did anyone get the information on the arrival of display vehicles and TD vehicles of Alcazar?

The rear look resembled Ford Endeavour and Mahindra Alturas G4 a bit!

I won't deny that Hyundai sure has nailed it with stretching the Creta. This really solves most of the problems in the Creta's design. The front remains polarizing still but everything else looks just how it should.
Unlike how Tata stretched the Harrier with the curvy front overhang and upright tailgate, Hyundai has concluded the car in complete tandem with the rest of the design.

Only thing left now would be safety to be tested, after the Seltos many people have either been taken aback even from the Creta since they are sister companies (although I know they still do differ), but it would be an icing on the cake if there's some more assurance given that it's now a 7 seater.
