Rightly said, i too have the same perception and in double mind between Alcazar and Safari. now the deal is made and it's Tata Safari XZA+ Adventure Persona 7 Seater.
though Alcazar has a lot of features, i wish to have it in safari especially ventilated seats. it's a boon in our tropical country.
with 25L +/- on road in Tamilnadu, Safari seems to be a good buy. yes, it depends on individual preferences.
I will be in dilemma, if Alacazar on-road price will be below 23L

Disappointment for those looking for a 7 seater top spec AT!! It can't be termed as a competition in the 7 seater AT space, except for diesel lower Prestige variant which though misses out on side and curtain airbags and other bells and whistles. Have cancelled my booking. Looks like families wanting higher specs 7 seater are not a target segment for hyundai.

Pricing is welcome up North as many now prefer petrol over diesel even at higher price bracket. 2.0Petrol should be decent performer. Folks from south(and diesel fanboys elsewhere) will be disappointed. For same price I can get that wonderful 2.0 multijet or the all rounded 2.4 diesel from Toyota. When the car is loaded, 1.5L Alcazar will struggle for sure. On the flip side Fuel economy should be great compared to competition. Alcazar diesel wop spec will cost about 27L OTR in Karnataka. At this price range, Alcazar has the smallest engine.

Looks like a perfect upgrade for petrol only Ertiga/XL6 owners.

Except the 1.5L engine, everything is spot on! Pricing it around Innova territory is a smart call - its going to be compared with Innova more than the wanna-be's!
A 7 seater Creta is what a lot of families wanted and they dont mind the higher pricing since it will be premium inside out!

And if this is the pricing route taken by the Alcazar, I’m wondering where will the next Gen Tucson sit? Much more expensive than the current one for sure! !

I actually think it’s decent pricing if we acknowledge prices generally have gone up. To my mind the next gen Tucson will sit squarely along the Octavia pricing or just a hint lower perhaps.

The Alcazar and Safari are different products but not per se incomparable. The petrol engine is on par although I admit the diesel is a distinct 1/2 segment down. Even the Kodiaq and Fortuner are similar price with a very different approach as product offerings.

Ultimately for all its (Safari’s) 4x4 looks, fact is, its not. And if we’re talking 4x2 6 / 7 seater vehicles, the Alcazar and Safari are just distinct offerings for comparable customer needs.

I have gone through the Alcazar Personally today. I'm almost 6"2' tall.
My 2 cents :
One can get 7 seats, out of which 2seats (3rd row) are not usable at all and 3 seats(2nd row) are without comfort in 7 seater variant(not much cushion in 2nd row).
In 6 seater variant, only 4 seats are usable.
I do not want the boot space if that comes at cost of making the 2nd and 3rd row congested.
One can always fold the 3rd row if they need the boot space.
I felt that in ALCAZAR neither the 3rd row is usable nor the boot is spacious, both are incomplete.
It would have been better if they have provided the comfort in 2nd and 3rd row with no boot space (personal opinion as it is subjective).
In 6 seater variant also, the 3rd row is useless for me.
Waiting for the XUV700 launch, Hope they will use the better Gearbox and priced it competitively.

2. Affordable, peace of mind, reliable MT/AT? You got Ertiga.

3. Little luxury over Ertiga? You got XL6.

4. Most affordable diesel manual, rugged and comfortable? You got Marazzo, but no AT.

5. Spacious, comfortable, and internet inside! ? You got Hector-Plus in petrol AT/MT but no diesel AT.

6. Sprightly engine and macho looks? You got Xuv500, but no petrol and is old.

7. Feature loaded and fresh? You got Alcazar, but the diesel engine is small by segment standards.

8. Stunning looks, comfortable, solid build and iconic brand? You got Safari, but no petrol engine.

9. Reliable and comfortable? You got the king of the segment Innova Crysta, also is offered in both petrol and diesel MT/AT.

- 50:50 spilt between auto & manual transmissions.

- Of that total, 60% are six seater and 40% are 7-seater.

I had dropped in at the Hyundai showroom opposite our apartment to do a PDI for a colleague’s i20 and the Alcazar was parked inside. Nobody seemed bothered! Probably they thought this is another Creta?































Some quick bits with whatever time I spent with the Alcazar:

- Great boot space even with the third row of seat.
- Second row gets an armrest with wireless charging space.
- Bonnet is very heavy! Wish it had come with the gas struts especially since there’s ample space on both sides to install one.
- Front seats have a folding table at the rear for the second bench occupants.
- Gets a 360 degree camera view.
- Gets ambient lighting on the dash and door cards.
- No lighting for the glove box.
- No vanity lighting for the co-driver.
- Purifier unit is located inside the armrest like the Seltos.
- 18” machined alloys look upmarket!
- Sturdy foot boards to give that SUV’ish feel.
- Central touchscreen display doesn’t stick out and is integrated within the dash. I hate the new trend of the displays sticking out.

Interesting pricing, while it is at Rs. 3.5 lacs premium over Top end Creta (too much premium ); it's at approx. Rs. 2.0 lacs discount from Top end Safari (but with weaker Diesel).

With all more features and relatively better mileage, it will have bookings unless Mahindra launches XUV700 with a disruptive price tag.

Thanks for sharing these pictures. I must confess that the interior color tone certainly looks premium.

Also, it looks like the cargo space will be much better than the XUV5OO even when all the seats are in place. That is another plus point for the Alcazar.

I can see that on the MID for the premium variants, the graphics and fonts are the same as those on Creta TFT MID.

Also in terms of positioning- it looks like Hyundai may be aiming at tier-2 towns with a car that's cheaper than Innova Crysta, more manageable in terms of real estate, has got enough bling, and can carry 5 average adults and 2 kids/adolescents. Not everyone is obsessed with shoulder room and kneeroom. They make do with what they have, even on long trips.
