7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs

The first images of the 7-seater Hyundai Creta have surfaced online. The SUV was spotted in South Korea.

The 7-seat version of the Creta appears to be longer than the 5-seater that is on sale in India. The rear overhang is noticeably longer to accommodate the third row of seats. It has a different grille with chrome inserts and LED headlights that look similar to the second generation model. A set of fog lamps are positioned lower down on the front bumper. The car also has front parking sensors.

Moving to the side, the 7-seater has black A-pillars and a silver insert along the roof. It has silver ORVMs and different door sills. The car also has silver alloy wheels, roof rails and a shark fin antenna.

At present, the 5-seater Creta is offered with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options along with a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, CVT and a 7-speed DCT which is only offered with the turbo petrol engine.

I highly doubt this car will come to India. Already it is an eye sore from rear and I have no clue what are they gonna design with this. Tag along around 2.5-3L premium over the 5 seater which is not gonna be value for money. I would rather opt for a MG hector with 7 seats which will be more spacious.

re: 7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs

I just wondered about it yesterday. Would a 7 seater Creta / Seltos not be the right thing to do to pull away customers who want a 6 seater MG or a 7 seater Tata?

Only thing is that the engine will need to make more power/torque than the 5 seaters right now.

I think this is something we will see with many more manufacturers. Crossovers drive the demand and those platforms can be used to build such 7 seaters quite easily, which is always welcome in the Indian market. Maybe Toyota will finally have to rethink those steadily-increasing Innova prices. (Although they would probably be crossing the 4m mark, so they won't be as affordable).

It will, mostly.

India is a major market and production/export hub for Hyundai. The car will need minimal modifications compared to an all-new product, and Creta is a well-established brand name in the segment. Hyundai also doesn't have any successful products in that segment, with the Tucson being a very niche player.

As for the design, it doesn't look promising in these spy shots. Looks like the C pillar retains a similar shape as in the 5-seater, with the remaining portion as an afterthought extension. Hope this is proved wrong when the actual car is revealed.

Was looking at the image a little closer, can anyone actually see the 6th and 7th seat? All it looks like is a larger boot. Not sure if this is indeed the seven seater (or even a creta).

I can see this working in India. Creta name has huge brand value and recall. They were never able to sell Santafe or Tucson in India in the 20-30 lakh market. Exploiting the recall of an existing brand may just allow them to breach that barrier.

I just hope they come up with an intelligent extension that goes well with Creta for this. I hate appending a plus with the name.

Just the 7 seater what the market wants! Hyundai is the new Honda, atleast in India. And Creta is their City, if I may add.
Creta has connected very well with the masses and the value proposition would sky rocket with the 7 seater option if they price it well. Hyundai are known not to mess up on the pricing!

re: 7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs

I, personally will want to this 7 seater version of the Creta to make it to our country and be successful. But presently , the efforts look similar to what Mahindra did by extending TUV300 to get TUV300 Plus - something not exactly attractive to look at (atleast to me). And in this case, the new Creta already has a controversial styling so adding a row of seats just for the sake of it could make the matters worse!.

Another problem can be the legroom in the second row if the wheelbase is shared with the existing 5 seater( which is most likely). I say this because the new Creta, to begin with has good legroom in the second row but not great like the Hector, Harrier and even the Innova - the most likely competitors of the 7 seater version of the Creta - if it makes it to our shores.

re: 7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs

Even if it comes to India, it will not be as popular as the Hector plus and Gravitas as the third row (and the overall car) will nowhere be as spacious as the two and on top of this the polarizing design would not be good for the Creta's sales.
The third row will offer similar amounts of space as the Tiguan Allspace does which is not even good for some children!

I wish this comes to India. Hyundai can fill the gap between the Creta and the Tucson. I'm sure they can do a better job than what Honda did with their Mobilio and BR-V.

Haha, good comparison. Trust Hyundai to make it acceptable looking. I doubt the 7 seater Creta is going to win any beauty pageants.

I know it's only a speculative render, but it looks like a 3 car pile-up.

Even though it is speculative design, front looks ok, rear looks like a Hearse vehicle.

Going by the image in the opening post, the 3rd row will be incredibly small! If they are indeed present, Hyundai India should bring it. Will be a good competitive advantage over chief rival, the Seltos. Plus, in a country with such large families & kids, the "+2" seats will always be good to have.
