It all depends on the power/torque curve. If the Alcazar is tuned to have even more torque develop early into the rev range, say around 1300-1400 rpm, then it will offer decent pickup from standstill. That is anyway required for a seven seater.

Completely off topic but can not make a thread to ask this.

What exactly are the credentials of these auto "journalists"? What I have seen that most of them can not hold their speed at constant even for 5 seconds and that is not a good credential to be an auto "journalist". Majority of these are between 25-30 years of age, with little driving experience. Some even talk and look like that they have never owned a car before taking a dive into this fraternity. None of auto "journalists" are automobile engg. or a mechanic with 10+ years of experience to lend their voice some weight.

Everyone of them sings same tune and at the very least they can dress properly for a video. Looks like wearing rags to work is cool now and dress to feel better only applies at night parties instead of work.

On topic: Those dual tone alloys look bad.

General Alcazar was there in a total of three TinTin books- ‘The broken ear’, ‘The seven crystal balls’ ,‘TinTin & the Picaros’ (though I read in Bengali translated versions, named as ‘Kanvanga murti’, ‘momir ovishap’, ‘biplobeeder dongole’)

Reviews are generally positive about the 2.0 litre petrol. But a lot of cloak and dagger stuff with embargo and everything. Seems companies are desperate to get people to put off their decisions by launching before the cars are ready to be manufactured.

1. These videos were posted barely one page earlier so bit of duplication there please.

2. I think most of the people in the videos are reasonably experienced journalists and are fairly on point for the job on that day as well. Which was previewing and explaining the Alcazar within the limited permitted mandate.

While a lot of the rest of what you have written doesn’t really merit a specific response here is a YouTube video instead from another very respected and experienced journalist (a town-planner by qualification I may add), which might provide shed some light on what it takes for a person to become an auto journalist. It’s genuinely quite informative and insightful. Hope it helps.

By the way, Alcazar was also in the Red Sea Sharks in the very beginning, looking out for second-hand DeHavilland Mosquitos !

To put it back in context, I hope the car named as Alcazar doesnt behave like his wife Peggy -obnoxious , demanding , making the Gen. a mouse of the house ! .

The Alcazar reminds me of the Tavera somehow! If they price the Diesel version well then it might pull a lot of crowd from people movers (read cabbies) and rural markets.

Hyundai hasn’t done well in the past with their premium suv offering especially as compared to their other products.

It will be interesting to see how they position the Alcazar against Safari and Jeep Compass.

Took my car for service today, I checked with SA on when the car is expected to be launched. He said, not sure on the launch date, this month end there are chances for demo cars to reach their yard. If so, I might go to check in person.
