If and when KIA chooses to bring the Sorento, my guess on price would be around 35L and given the low volumes there, it could be CKD.

Scoop! Hyundai Alcazar to arrive at dealerships by May 2021

The Hyundai Alcazar could make an early launch and is expected to arrive at dealerships by May 2021.

7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs-1-2.jpg

The Alcazar is a 3-row SUV and is expected to be offered in 6 and 7-seat configurations. The former gets separate captain seats for the second row.

The SUV will look similar to the 5-seater Creta, but it could get a tweaked front fascia and an extended rear end to accommodate the third row of seats. It will also feature a completely different tail lamp design, twin exhausts and front parking sensors.

The Alcazar could be offered with the same engine options as the Creta. These include 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines along with a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque converter automatic, CVT and a 7-speed DCT which is only offered with the turbo-petrol engine.

Re: Scoop! Hyundai Alcazar to arrive at dealerships by May 2021

Having owned a 7 seater before for 6+ years, my personal feedback is that these 7 seaters are only good as a 4-5 seater + highway trip OR 6-7 seater with (almost)zero boot space.

Also considering the Creta boot space, i doubt 3rd row seat will leave any room for luggage. (we have seen it in Safari too)

So that makes these captain seats more of a luxury(akin to a sun roof) and practicality-wise we need a bench seat for the long highway drives.

I agree to your captain seat vs Bench seat point, but even with low to nil boot space, these cars have a market.

For instance even for a simple outing in the City (say to a Restaurant/Movie/Shopping), it makes it easier for the family of 6-7 to travel together than to take separate cars.

Even for some long distance one day trips- 500-600 kms round trips, such cars can seat 7 with no requirement of luggage. I do these trips 6-7 times a year and these cars can be useful for me for these two reasons.

Any word on the Wheelbase? If its identical to Creta, it could result in an incredibly cramped 7 seater.

Everyone keeps on saying how XUV500 is going to be a threat to Safari but here comes the real deal! Until unless they screw up the pricing like Tuscon/Santa Fe, they are once again going to laugh all the way to the banks.

Will be a good test of the 1.4 TGDI if the engine is actually offered in the Alcazar. Under load, these modern turbo-petrols tend to be quite sensitive. Especially on the fuel efficiency side. (Hector, Compass have shown it). So Hyundai better get this tuned right if the 1.4TGDI is going to be offered.

Realistically - I don't expect the Alcazar to be used often with a full load of 7 passengers of course. So it won't be a huge deal-breaker as such. Just a mental block in case those numbers come out to be surprising in real world usage.

Bang on. I own Hyundai Venue 1.0, recently went on a trip to Kumbakonam with my family. The car was jam-packed, I got a mileage of 15 viz a viz 17 - 19 which I got in my other highway trips. Though the car pulled really well, it was at the cost of subpar mileage.

Yes, with more load, small capacity engine will definitely burn more fuel. Not sure how much tuning can make a difference here.
Not an expert here, but I guess the NA engines are more consistent here.

Scoop! Hyundai Alcazar showcasing on April 6 at Rajasthan

Hyundai is gearing up to launch the 7-seat version of the Creta, called the Alcazar, later this year. We have now learned that the SUV will be showcased in Rajasthan on April 6, 2021. The car is expected to reach dealerships by May this year.

7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs-alcazar.jpg

The Alcazar is a 3-row SUV based on the same platform as the Creta. It is expected to be offered in 6 and 7-seat configurations. The former gets separate captain seats for the second row.

The Alcazar will be slightly larger than the Creta and will get an extended rear end to accommodate the third row of seats. It will get a redesigned front fascia, different tail lamp design, twin exhausts and will be equipped with front parking sensors.

The Alcazar could be offered with the same engine options as the Creta. These include 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines along with a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque converter automatic, CVT and a 7-speed DCT which is only offered with the turbo-petrol engine.

re: 7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs

I really hoped the Alcazar would come with better engine options, such as Hyundai's 1.6L turbo petrol or 2.0 Diesel. This would have been a good car to introduce 1.6L turbo petrol in India at ~170-180 BHP, as this car can potentially bring in good volumes

Same engine options like Creta is a bummer. It will probably take away the drive feel with extra weight / luggage / people on board. Even Jeep is upgrading its engine on upcoming 7 seater version to a higher state of tune.

.
It's a compulsion for Hyundai not a deliberate choice as 1.6 ltr engine would be subject to 50% GST + cess as opposed to 45% for 1.5 ltr engine. That's the reason why Hyundai has changed all 1.6 ltr engines to 1.5 ltr in Creta, Verna to save on 5% tax.

While details are scarce, we expect the SUV to come with Hyundai SmartSense features like forward collision assist, which includes automatic emergency braking tech, blind spot collision avoidance assist, driver attention warning, automatic emergency braking while reversing, and rear cross-traffic alert. Additionally, features like smart cruise control, highway driving assist and lane departure warning can also be expected on the Hyundai Alcazar.
