Ford India launches a feature-rich 2007 Ikon

Source: agencyfaqs! > news & features > company news > Ford India launches a feature-rich 2007 Ikon

Ford India today introduced the striking new 2007 Ikon loaded with plush new interiors and new stylish exterior enhancements for young icons.

With an attractive price tag of Rs 4, 75,900 (ex-showroom, New Delhi and Hyderabad) the 2007 Ikon introduces a brand new colour - Jeans Blue to its range to offer consumers more choice.

The 2007 Ikon will offer customers:
  • Plush beige and dark parchment interiors
  • Matching seat fabric and trims
  • New instrument cluster graphic
Recognizing customers' desire to individualize their vehicles, Ford India will also offer young icons exciting enhancements at an additional cost of Rs 35, 000 to include features such as:
  • Rear spoiler
  • Sporty alloy wheels
  • Sporty seat covers
  • Anti-theft alarm
  • Chrome decklid handle
  • Chrome exhaust trim
God knows how long they will hold on to this model. Seems to go the Esteem way. Hopefully the Mahindra Logan should put a stop to this

Seems like a desparate attempt to keep the Ikon alive. They should let Fiesta take over the reins of being the cash cow of the company

Yes, They should have already made enough and more money from the Ikon. They still make these cars on a scrapped plant from Brazil. The plant would have broken even by now.

By the way, a friend who visited my former college(which is very close to the plant) has spotted a covered up hatchback type car parked at a teashop near the plant. Any hatchback plans from Ford?

It just needs better tyres to tackle the braking issue. The stock tyres MRF ZVTS was actually a long lasting piece of ****. My original set of brakes had a tough time with it (and lasted just 1 year) and it also got worn out very fast, but with change of the rotors and the pads alongwith the change of tyres I have no issues with brakes now, although I drive much much faster now than then.

Exactly my thoughts. It's time to say goodbye to the Ikon, which, is now looking and feeling dated. That car has done its bit to prop up Ford in India after the not-so-desirable Escort. The Fiesta should have ideally replaced the Ikon. I hope Ford don't ruin things the way HM did with the Lancer.

Yes yes yes!! Come on Ford. Keep Ikon alive. Its a great car! But the alloys are so old in the 2007 Ikon.

Yes danlalan. 1.6 engine should be reinvented for the Ikon. 1.8 crdi diesel would be great too.

If only they would launch 1.6 Ikon again with the very same engine it had, it would even outsell Fiesta. To me, this is a better car than Esteem, Indigo etc. Please get us 1.6 back Ford.

The Ikon, inspite of its age, is still fresh looking. But for the higher maintenance costs, its far more desirable than the Esteem - which I'm surprised has not attracted any thoughts in this thread.

That's another car that should have been stopped a long time ago. We know how HM and Maruti function (read Ambassador and Maruti 800). I just hope Ford does things differently.

VERY TRUE! Ikon's 1.6 has the potential to beat Fiesta's 1.6. I prefer the Ikon 1.6 over the Fiesta's 1.6 anytime!!
