Re: Jeep Compass facelift launch in early 2021

A heavily camouflaged 2022 Jeep Compass face-lift with major changes spotted testing in Italy:

Quote:
Compass will follow in the design wake of the new Cherokee, with finer headlights and giving a new look to the seven-slot grille, also reviewing the design of the bumper, while behind the optical groups will also undergo a change. They will retain the original shape but the distribution of the functions will be new, losing the dark section of the central part
Quote:
With a completely revamped range of mechanics and a newly developed plug-in hybrid, this test unit also features 4XE technology, so Jeep will improve battery capacity and battery life.
Quote:
But the interesting will be inside with important innovations, starting with a digital instrument panel and a new touch screen in the central console, more vertical and 10 inches, also adopting a new multimedia platform, faster and more intuitive.

Seriously, why is it called the Jeep Compass 2022 when its due to be launched in the 1st quarter of 2021? I hate this new trend from car manufacturers who are launching a car in the current year and calling it out as a model of the next year. I can understand if the car is being launched towards the end of the year say between October to December, but if you are launching something in April or May, it seems absolutely naive to call it as a model of the following year. How does it help anyone really? Maybe it helps in some board meeting presentations, but to the customers it makes no sense.

Re: Jeep Compass facelift launch in early 2021

Spotted the upcoming Jeep Compass facelift on NICE road today. Rear looked similar to the current one on sale but the front was quite heavily camouflaged. Unlike the current Compass, this one had its DRLs integrated within the headlamp cluster with a strip running across the bottom of the headlamp unit.

Re: Jeep Compass facelift launch in early 2021

Don't think the facelift is going to help Compass sales, Jeep needs Seltos/Creta and Nexon/Brezza segment vehicles to stay afloat in India. You simply can't survive with a single model, that too one which sells in low numbers. It looks like the curtains for Jeep Inida will be down in another couple of years. I can't see proper strategy at all. With the new Thar, it would be difficult even if Renegade materializes.

Re: Jeep Compass facelift launch in early 2021

I am finding it difficult to understand what is changed in the facelift. The changes might be minor and subtle. The only changes I can identify is the alloys design. Dual tone on current version looks better in my opinion.

I would request Jeep not to go with Korean twins route offering useless blings like mood lighting and tech crap like connected car tech and stupid 20 inches touch screen. Jeep should stick with its original DNA and offer solid build as usual with competent engines which last forever.

Eagerly waiting for Renegade launch and it's pricing. This will bring volumes to Jeep and will no longer be considered as "will be leaving India shortly" jargon.

Came across this spy video of the Compass facelift on YouTube. The touchscreen system looks HUGE. Probably the rumoured 12.3 inch screen?

Re: Jeep Compass facelift launch in early 2021

What Jeep really needs is to bring Renegade ASAP and slot it below Compass in Creta/Seltos category and give an affordable 4x4 option. I am sure there exists a market for the same.

I am sure it will dent the sales of Hyundai and Kia. As for Compass, it’s hugely overpriced at the moment and needs some serious price correction else Jeep is never going to see the success it witnessed when it was initially launched.

I tend to think other wise. The sub- 4 meter segment will have massive competition, and also has extremely value conscious buyers. Don't think FCA will be able to price the Renegade to make a significant impact.

For the Compass, i would argue that the reason why it is compared with Creta/Seltos is because of the overlapping price points. Anyone who has a Compass will agree that it is a segment above the Koreans. However, it desperately needs to address the price to feature play. FCA has started doing so in the 2020 Compass- the Longitude Plus is priced at the same level as erstwhile Limited, but gets 2 additional airbags, cruise control etc. But it needs to do far more.

So i would think a better option is to narrow the price band with a higher entry price- say 18- 25 lakhs; have lesser number of variants (say start with the Longitude as base model) but load them with more comfort and safety features and 4*4 tech for the brand differentiation.

Note that this means a price reduction on the Limited Plus and Trailhawks.

Re: Jeep Compass facelift launch in early 2021

If there is one facelift that I am looking forward to see, then this is it. Although the altering dynamics post pandemic have made the pitch somewhat damaging but will still look forward to the launch. The spy shots don’t reveal much beside the touchscreen and the new steering wheel, it would be interesting how they price the facelift in the post pandemic era.

Not sure about Renegade launching anytime soon but Jeep certainly need to act fast to arrest the slide of sales. The Korean siblings have already cannibalised the Compass in no time and the longer Jeep takes to react, the more deeper they go inside the landmine of Indian automobile sector.

Re: Jeep Compass facelift launch in early 2021

Coming in early 2021, the 2022 Jeep Compass is spied testing again.

- Exterior changes limited to the front and rear
- New Power-Train
- Interior changes

Quote:
On the panel, the instrument frame is the only detail that does not change and will keep the 7" TFT screen in the center being fronted with analog dials. Elsewhere everything will be new, the panel will be floating and only the cover will be with rubberized material and at its ends will have two air vents.

Just below the panel cover, a bar will divide the panel into two parts and at its ends will be the air vents.

The continuation of the panel will be in smooth rigid plastic and in the center will be housed the multimedia center of the floating type and below will be the central air vents. The air conditioning controls are still on the center console.
Quote:
At the front, the Jeep Compass 2022 will have very discreet changes. The famous seven-crack grid will retain virtually the same current format. Already the headlights will gain new shape and will be "invaded" by the bumper on its part that is the main grille.

The auxiliary headlamps also change shape, so with the lower air intake that will have tamamho much larger than the current one.

In the rear, the most successful average SUV on the market will have only new internal designs of the taillights that will keep the same shape

Power-train details:

- 1.3 Firefly Turbo with estimated power of 180 hp and torque around 29 kgfm. The engine will start the CVT automatic transmission provided by Aisin.

Quote:
The CVT gear shift will be the Direct Shift that counts on the first gear shift as a conventional automatic gearbox, the other simulated gears may vary according to the engine in which the transmission is switched on. Provided by Aisin, the transmission simulates ten speeds in the Toyota Corolla, but this will depend on the calibration that will be used by the FCA for its models.
- The 2.0 Turbo diesel engine will also be recalibrated to yield more power and touch, but will remain connected to the nine-speed ZF gearbox with 4×4 traction.

Re: Jeep Compass facelift launch in early 2021

For all the changes being discussed, I hope they rectify that ridiculously low (for a 4x4 SUV) approach angle, with this version.
